Overview

Estarossa is a prominent antagonist from the manga and anime series The Seven Deadly Sins. As a member of the Ten Commandments, an elite force serving the Demon King, he is known by the title Estarossa of Benevolence. Standing as one of the Demon Clan's top warriors, he is introduced as the brother of Meliodas and Zeldris. Bearing a striking resemblance to the face depicted on Meliodas's wanted poster, Estarossa plays a crucial role in the invasion of Britannia, confronting the Kingdom of Liones and the members of the Seven Deadly Sins with a calm yet ominous demeanor.

Appearance

Estarossa is characterized by his silver hair and a facial appearance nearly identical to Meliodas's wanted poster. A distinctive demon mark is located on the left side of his forehead. His outfit consists of dark brown clothing (navy blue in the animated adaptation) designed with an open chest, paired with golden armor fitted around his arms and legs (rendered as silver in the animated series).

Personality

Estarossa possesses a laid-back and individualistic personality, wrapped in an unsettling, mysterious aura. Compared to his fellow members, he often appears mild-mannered and conversational, yet he holds a disturbing mentality of taking lives out of pity. In combat against formidable opponents, he reveals a bloodthirsty, aggressive nature and shows relentless cruelty, such as casually eliminating incapacitated allies. His feelings toward Meliodas are marked by a deeply twisted blend of affection, obsession, and emotional resentment.

Abilities

Estarossa possesses the Commandment of Love, which strips anyone harboring hatred in his presence of the ability to harm others. His magic power, Full Counter, allows him to reflect physical attacks back at his foes with double or greater force, though it cannot reflect magic. Using the Demon Clan's Hellblaze, he can engulf targets in darkness to erase them with Blackout, deploy a hound-shaped dark flame with Black Hound, or slice opponents with Killing Saucer. Additionally, he generates swords from his body or surroundings using Rebellion.

Background

During the ancient Holy War three thousand years ago, Estarossa held great admiration for Meliodas, who was then the leader of the Ten Commandments. After being sealed for three millennia following the war's conclusion, he was eventually unsealed through the schemes of Fraudrin. Joining the rest of the group to conquer Britannia, he intervened during the clash at Vaizel and dealt a fatal blow to Meliodas by piercing his hearts. Later, during the siege of Liones Kingdom, he engaged in a fierce battle against Escanor, suffering heavy injuries that left him comatose until his eventual recovery in Camelot Castle.

Relationships

Estarossa shares a complex dynamic with Meliodas, harboring a obsessive affection warped by feelings of betrayal. He acts alongside Zeldris as his brother, though Zeldris's former master, Cusack, deeply distrusted Estarossa's presence. In his battle against Escanor of the Seven Deadly Sins, Escanor's pity rather than hatred bypassed Estarossa's Commandment, leading to Estarossa's defeat. Within his own group, he displayed cold ruthlessness toward his fellow member Galand, killing him without hesitation once Galand was petrified.

Trivia

Estarossa's design bears an intentional resemblance to the inaccurate wanted poster of Meliodas seen early in the story. During the manga serialization, the title of Chapter 174 was notably changed from To the Meliodas I Love to To the Beloved Meliodas in the subsequent chapter. His costume also underwent a slight design change mid-series, removing his inner shirt to expose his chest. In the spin-off series Seven Deadly Sins Academy, he is depicted as a laid-back delinquent who jokingly demands non-existent debt repayments from his peers.
