Overview

Melascula is a character featured in "The Seven Deadly Sins" and its sequel "Four Knights of the Apocalypse." She is a member of the Ten Commandments, an elite unit directly under the Demon King, and bears the Commandment of "Faith." Although she appears as a young girl, her true identity is a small poisonous snake that attained immense magical power after bathing in the miasma of the Demon Realm for centuries.

Appearance

Melascula takes the form of a young girl with long pink hair (rendered as light purple hair in animated and game adaptations) wearing a white leotard. She is continuously enveloped in a dark fog-like substance, which she freely manipulates as extra limbs or shapes into a protective barrier. When consuming souls, her mouth splits unusually wide horizontally, exposing a remarkably long tongue.

Personality

Melascula possesses a calm, analytical mindset that allows her to assess situations coolly, often offering advice to her hot-headed companion Galand or reining in his impulsive behavior. However, she has a strong passion for alcohol and becomes exceptionally high-spirited whenever she is drunk.

Abilities

Through her Commandment of "Faith," the eyes of anyone who harbors disbelief in her presence are burned away. Her abilities focus on soul manipulation and necromancy, including her magic "Hell Gate," the forbidden spell "Vengeful Resurrection" that revives the dead by amplifying their lingering wrath, "Cocoon of Darkness" to trap targets and extract souls, "Soul Invitation" to draw out souls via incantations, and "Summon Ring" to summon red or gray demons. In her transformed giant serpent form, she utilizes "Deadly Poison" to spew acidic digestive fluids and lethal vapor. As Chaos Melascula, her powers expand to include techniques such as "Cage of Dark Purgatory," "Gluttonous Soul God," and "Banquet of Hell."

Background

Originally a tiny serpent in the Demon Realm, she acquired formidable magic power after absorbing miasma for 300 years, eventually joining the elite demon unit. Sealed after the ancient Holy War, she was released through Fraudrin's machinations. After reviving Elaine, she attempted to consume Escanor's soul, only for his magic to burn her from the inside and send her plunging off a cliff. Although she survived and attempted revenge, Ban crushed her hearts. During the battle at Camelot, Elizabeth purified her miasma, reducing her to her original snake form before Merlin captured her inside a bottle. She later resurfaced in "Four Knights of the Apocalypse" as Chaos Melascula.

Relationships

Melascula frequently partners with her fellow Commandment Galand, sharing drinks with him while acting as a voice of reason against his rash choices. Her attempt to harvest Escanor's soul resulted in severe internal burns from his retaliatory magic. By using her forbidden spell to resurrect Ban's lover Elaine, she earned Ban's wrath and had her hearts crushed. Ultimately, she was captured by Merlin to serve as a research specimen.

Trivia

Melascula routinely commanded lower-ranking demons to attack human villages to gather souls for her. She personally considers her true form as a giant serpent to be uncute, making her reluctant to transform into it unless necessary.
