Characterized by his drowsy demeanor and the pillow he constantly carries, Meitenkun seems harmless at first glance. However, he conceals a staggering amount of latent Qi within his body, leading his master to consider him a powerful secret weapon.

Appearance

Meitenkun is a young boy with white hair and brown eyes. He wears pajama-style clothing and is constantly seen carrying a large pillow in his arms. His posture and facial expression are distinctively drowsy, often appearing as though he is on the verge of falling asleep mid-stance.

Personality

Meitenkun possesses a gentle and considerate personality, maintaining a relaxed, easygoing pace in everyday life. He is habitually overwhelmed by sleepiness and loves taking repeated naps. While he frequently dozes off even during conversations, he deeply cares for his master Tung Fu Rue and his best friend Shun'ei, showing a strong desire to support them. Additionally, he harbors a strong dislike for mosquitoes.

Abilities

Meitenkun practices Hakkyokuminminken, a unique martial art style named by Tung Fu Rue. His combat style relies on unpredictable, off-rhythm movements while utilizing his pillow to restrict opponents and perform feint attacks. By storing immense reserves of Qi within his drowsy body, he can release it through devastating techniques such as Chougekiho. His arsenal includes charging strikes like Gashinsou, defensive energy bursts like Gekiho, and airborne attacks like Retsusenkyoku.

Background

In The King of Fighters XIV, Meitenkun entered the tournament as part of the China Team alongside Shun'ei and their master, Tung Fu Rue, aiding Shun'ei's training to control his power. In the manga adaptation, his sleepwalking destructive tendencies during childhood led his parents to hand him over to Tung Fu Rue's care. During The King of Fighters XV, he joined the Hero Team alongside Shun'ei and Nikaido Benimaru. Following the event, Meitenkun set off on a journey around the world with Shun'ei to broaden his martial horizons.

Relationships

Meitenkun shares a deep bond of friendship with Shun'ei, his fellow disciple whom he affectionately addresses with a nickname while training together. He holds utmost respect for his master, Tung Fu Rue, who recognizes Meitenkun's immense latent Qi as his secret weapon. During The King of Fighters XV, he forms a team with Nikaido Benimaru; despite initial hesitations, Meitenkun quickly warms up to Benimaru due to his caring nature.

Trivia

His favorite food is tamagoyaki (Japanese rolled omelet), and he is surprisingly skilled at short-distance sprinting. Many of his move names and combat animations revolve around sleeping and napping motifs.
