Overview

Najd is a female fighter from Saudi Arabia who debuted as a downloadable character in The King of Fighters XIV and returned in The King of Fighters XV. Created from a design by Mashael Al-Barrak through a joint contest between SNK and Manga Productions, she lives a double life. By day she is a soft-spoken university student majoring in archaeology, and by night she dons a powerful traditional garment to protect her city as a guardian of justice.

Appearance

Najd is a dark-skinned young woman with short white hair and brown eyes. She wears a black headscarf paired with a traditional long black abaya robe. Her outfit includes gloves on her hands and black over-the-knee boots on her feet. Her listed height is 168 centimeters.

Personality

Najd is a polite, mild-mannered, and serious individual with a strong sense of decorum. She strongly dislikes disrespect and will firmly reprimand anyone displaying arrogant behavior. Alongside her commitment to justice, she shares typical student interests such as watching online makeup tutorials, collecting lipsticks, and window shopping. Because much of her knowledge about foreign traditions comes from reading manga, she holds funny misconceptions, such as believing eccentric performers are authentic ninjas.

Abilities

Najd fights using shadow-manipulation magic contained within her special abaya gown. She treats the shadowy entity residing in her attire as a familiar, calling it A'ila. Her moveset features multi-hit attack combinations, command throws, parrying techniques, and a signature technique that builds enormous damage when charged. In The King of Fighters XV, her combat system incorporates leveling up her shadow power through specific command grabs to unleash enhanced Super Special Moves.

Background

While maintaining strong academic standing in her university archaeology studies, Najd uses her shadow powers at night to secure her city's safety. Taught by her master about dimensional monsters that threaten the world, she bears the duty to hunt these evil manifestations. Her search for a stolen ancient manuscript leads her across Africa to an Egyptian bookstore, tracking a sand-wielding hooded youth and ultimately leading her to join The King of Fighters tournament.

Relationships

Najd keeps a watchful eye on Kukri, identifying him as the sand manipulator connected to the missing manuscript. She views Kim Kaphwan as a rival with whom to discuss true justice, while viewing Chizuru Kagura and Elisabeth Blanctorche as ideal teammates due to their maturity. She expresses an interest in learning refined conduct from Luong, chastises arrogant opponents like Kyo Kusanagi and Shun'ei, and is seen sharing a vehicle ride with Ash Crimson.

Trivia

Her favorite food is dried dates, and she enjoys spending her leisure time visiting bookstores or watching wildlife videos. Owing to her Saudi Arabian background and the dark liquid visual effects of her shadow techniques, fans humorously nickname her the 'Oil Woman.' The dramatic damage output of her signature charged kick in her debut game remains a popular topic among fighting game enthusiasts.
