Overview

Shen Woo is a fictional character featured in the Ash Saga of The King of Fighters fighting game series, debuting in The King of Fighters 2003. Known by the epithet "God of War of Shanghai," he is a notorious street brawler who relies entirely on his own fists and thrives on raw combat.

Appearance

Shen Woo is a muscular man with dark skin, spiked blonde hair, and blue eyes. He wears an open pink shirt or jacket revealing his bare torso and abs, paired with black trousers and black gloves. His accessories include a necklace and earrings.

Personality

Shen Woo is a short-tempered and straightforward brawler who wears his heart on his sleeve. Driven by a pure love for fighting, he seeks out powerful opponents above all else. His violent and overbearing demeanor often earns him harsh criticism from others, though he remains a bold character who pays little mind to small details. He enjoys eating Shanghai crab, hates jellyfish for their squishy nature, and unexpectedly excels at table tennis.

Abilities

Shen Woo fights using an unrefined self-taught street-brawling style, relying entirely on raw physical strength and powerful close-range attacks without any projectile attacks. His repertoire includes the heavy charge attack Gekiken and its super variant Zetsu! Gekiken, alongside Tanken, a strike capable of deflecting incoming enemy projectiles.

Background

A brawler with an obscure past, Shen Woo met Ash Crimson in Shanghai and agreed to join the King of Fighters tournament simply to fight strong opponents. In The King of Fighters XI, he teamed up with Oswald, though the tournament ended with the two coming to blows over a prescription requirement from a pharmacist. After nearly losing his memories of Ash due to time anomalies in The King of Fighters XIII, he later reunited with him following Ash's return.

Relationships

Shen Woo maintains a loose friendship with Ash Crimson and often teams up with Duo Lon. He clashes heavily with the strict and proud Elisabeth Blanctorche due to their incompatible personalities. He fought Oswald following a business agreement, and he harbors an uncomfortable deference toward the elderly master Chin Gentsai, who thoroughly bested him in the past.

Trivia

The name Shen Woo is merely an alias earned through his reputation as a street fighter in Shanghai, while his true name remains unknown. Opponents often criticize his fighting approach for being completely reckless and lacking strategy.
