Overview
Captain Mizuki is a B-Class Rank 71 professional hero belonging to the Hero Association in the manga series One-Punch Man. A former track and field athlete, she was selected as part of the surface support team assembled to assist the S-Class heroes during the raid on the Monster Association. Characterized by her bright, athletic demeanor and strong sense of teamwork, she stands out as a dedicated combatant who utilizes sports-inspired techniques in battle.
Appearance
Captain Mizuki is a tall woman with an eight-head-tall athletic physique featuring well-developed six-pack abs and wheat-colored skin. She has voluminous golden-brown hair tied slightly to the left top of her head with an indigo scrunchie in a style resembling a cross between a pineapple hairstyle and a side-tail, paired with pale sky-blue eyes. Her attire consists of a light blue track-and-field uniform comprising a sports bra and shorts labeled with MZK, worn alongside athletic shoes, wristbands on both arms, gold earrings in both ears, and three gold medals hanging around her neck.
Personality
Captain Mizuki has a cheerful, polite, and energetic personality reminiscent of a sports club member. She maintains a respectful attitude toward everyone, addressing the Hero Association executive Sekingar as Coach and higher-ranking heroes as Senpai. Unlike many self-centered heroes, she strongly values teamwork and collective responsibility. She possesses a resilient spirit and deep loyalty to her allies, willingly putting her body on the line to shield comrades like Gearsper or protect innocent children even when severely outmatched by powerful monsters.
Abilities
Captain Mizuki possesses high physical strength and endurance, fighting with techniques modeled after track and field events. She initiates combat with a crouching start after hearing a whistle to accelerate rapidly. Utilizing a variable baton weapon, she performs Pole Vault to pin targets to the ground while jumping, Javelin Throw by converting the baton into a spear in mid-air, and Hammer Throw by using retractable barbs to fix an impaled monster and swing it around. She also uses Discus Throw by expanding her gold medals into flying discs, executes a combined Shot Put technique throwing Needle Star's iron ball, and employs grappling joint locks.
Background
Prior to joining the Hero Association, Mizuki competed as a track and field athlete. After becoming a B-Class Rank 71 hero, she was chosen to join the surface support squad for the Monster Association raid operation. During the initial assault, she fought alongside her fellow heroes to defeat numerous lower-level monsters outside the enemy hideout. When the Dragon-level monster Nyaan breached the surface, Mizuki bravely attempted to stall the creature to protect a rescued child despite sustaining heavy injuries, holding out until she was saved by Gearsper's unleashed psychic powers.
Relationships
Mizuki holds deep admiration for the S-Class hero Superalloy Darkshine as a fellow strength-focused hero, earning his praise for her impressive musculature. She maintains a close bond with the C-Class hero Gearsper, whom she respectfully addresses as Senpai and shields from enemy attacks, leading to him using his psychic power to protect her in return. She follows the instructions of the Hero Association executive Sekingar, calling him Coach, and demonstrates smooth tactical synergy with fellow hero Needle Star during group combat.
Trivia
The character's visual and physical concept was modeled after Australian hurdler Michelle Jenneke. Upon her debut in chapter 134 of the remade manga, her tall stature was emphasized by a full-height panel spanning the page. Manga artist Yusuke Murata stated on Twitter that the relationship between Captain Mizuki and Superalloy Darkshine is similar to that between Zangief and Rainbow Mika from the Street Fighter series.
