Overview

Metal Bat, whose real name is Bad, is a hero appearing in One-Punch Man. Rising from C-Class Rank 223 to S-Class Rank 16 (previously Rank 15) in the Hero Association, he later transfers to the newly established NEO HEROES organization. Sporting a classic Japanese delinquent look with a school uniform, he fights using a metallic baseball bat. Although he possesses a rough demeanour and aggressive speech, he is profoundly devoted to his younger sister, Zenko, adhering strictly to a promise never to display violence in her presence.

Appearance

Metal Bat is a 17-year-old youth with black eyes and black hair styled into a prominent pompadour. He wears a dark, long-sleeved student uniform composed of a jacket and pants. His muscular build is suited for combat, and he is perpetually depicted holding a metal baseball bat.

Personality

Despite his blunt, aggressive phrasing and arrogant air, Metal Bat has a strong sense of principle. He often rushes to defeat enemies so quickly that he forgets to interrogate them first. He shows open annoyance toward demanding executives, yet displays a remarkably gentle side toward his younger sister, Zenko. He takes his vow never to use violence around her with absolute seriousness. At home, he takes care of a pet cat.

Abilities

Metal Bat relies on immense physical strength and a metal bat, capable of defeating Demon and Dragon-level monsters single-handedly. His defining combat trait is his innate Fighting Spirit; as he takes damage and grows angrier, his durability, speed, and power surge exponentially, enabling him to overcome seemingly fatal injuries and overwhelm formidable opponents.

Background

Starting at C-Class Rank 223, his battle achievements earned him a swift promotion to the S-Class. While guarding an executive, he fended off monster attacks and engaged in a fierce duel against Garou. The battle was cut short by his sister's arrival, after which he collapsed from exhaustion and was hospitalized. Upon recovering, he rejoined the ongoing conflict. He later transferred to NEO HEROES due to perks including home security and cat care, though he subsequently found himself detained by the organization.

Relationships

His most important relationship is with his younger sister, Zenko, whose wishes and rules he obeys unconditionally. He fought a brutal battle against Garou, the self-proclaimed Human Monster. Following his transfer to NEO HEROES, he becomes involved with figures such as Blue and Fujai.

Trivia

Creator commentary notes that his presence could have significantly altered the outcome of the Monster Association arc, and his fight with Garou might have turned fatal for his opponent had his sister not intervened. His Fighting Spirit mechanism is noted to be impossible to replicate in combat simulations.
