Overview

Guardian Eatos is a Level 8 WIND Fairy-type effect monster featured in Yu-Gi-Oh! Duel Monsters and the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game. Serving as the signature card and loyal spirit partner of Rafael, one of Doma's Three Swordsmen, she plays a central role in both the animated narrative and card battle gameplay.

Appearance

Guardian Eatos features blonde hair topped with a bird-shaped headpiece and wears a Native American-inspired outfit that exposes her midriff. Large white feathered wings span from her back. When corrupted into a dark monster under the influence of the Seal of Orichalcos, her wings turn pitch black.

Personality

Inhabiting her card as a sentient monster spirit, Guardian Eatos maintains an unbreakable bond with her master, Rafael. In battle, she presents a dignified and solemn aura that directly confronts the inner darkness of her opponents. She possesses a noble and compassionate spirit, ultimately working to free her duelist from the negative emotions consuming him.

Abilities

As a Level 8 WIND Fairy-type monster with 2500 ATK and 2000 DEF, she can be Special Summoned from the hand when her owner has no monsters in the Graveyard. In the Official Card Game, sending an equipped Equip Spell to the Graveyard lets her banish up to three monsters from the opponent's Graveyard, boosting her ATK by 500 per banished card until the end of the turn. In the anime, destroying her equipped sword allowed her to banish cards from the top of the opponent's Graveyard to absorb their total ATK, and being destroyed in battle triggered the Special Summon of Guardian Dreadscythe. Her signature attack is Spirit Opera, which becomes Forbidden Gospel when equipped with her sword.

Background

Guardian Eatos was part of the final birthday gift given to Rafael by his family before they drowned in a shipwreck, making her his most treasured keepsake. She became the core of his anti-Graveyard strategy born from his trauma of losing loved ones. In his first duel against Yami Yugi, she reached astronomical attack power to hand the Pharaoh a devastating defeat. Though later forcibly transformed into a dark monster by the Seal of Orichalcos in their rematch, she was ultimately revived by Yugi via Monster Reborn to cleanse the darkness from Rafael's heart.

Relationships

She shares a profound soul connection with her duelist, Rafael, who treasures her as a memory of his lost family. She fought fiercely against Yami Yugi as a formidable opponent, but was eventually brought back to the field by him to help save Rafael's soul. She is also directly linked to Guardian Dreadscythe, a darker entity that serves as her successor upon her destruction.

Trivia

Though she made her anime debut in 2003, her official physical card print in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game was delayed until a mid-2009 V Jump promotional event. Although she belongs to the Guardian archetype, her OCG version uniquely lacks the shared summoning restriction requiring a specific Equip Spell on the field. The word Psalm in her attack name when equipped with Celestial Bow - Artemis derives from the Swedish word for hymn or psalm.
