Sky Striker Ace - Raye is the primary protagonist of the "Sky Striker" archetype within the Yu-Gi-Oh! Official Card Game and the leading character in the serialized manga Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG STORIES. Raye is a young girl featuring blonde hair and green eyes. She wears a collared, long-sleeved two-tone dress paired with a black necktie. She carries a sword-like device etched with red line markings. When activated, she transitions into a form wearing a sleek suit with protective guards, which serves as the base for attaching various heavy armors.

Raised by androids, Raye possesses a compassionate yet resilient spirit. Though the strain of battle and the loss of her guardians temporarily cause her mind to wear down and become consumed by fighting, she retains a deep capacity for empathy. Upon encountering another like herself, she regains her humanity and actively seeks a peaceful resolution, striving to walk alongside her counterpart rather than simply engaging in conflict.

Abilities

By initiating her red-striped sword device, Raye enters her base combat mode, enabling her to deploy specialized Sky Striker gear and tactical functions. She can seamlessly swap into powerful outer armors suited for different tactical roles—such as the offensive Kagari, the defensive Shizuku, as well as Hayate, Kaina, and even Zeke. In battle, if her equipped unit is removed or destroyed, she displays remarkable resilience by instantly re-emerging onto the field from the graveyard.

Background

Created from a preserved embryo, Raye is the last surviving human on her planet. She was raised with care by the Karma Three Sages, a group of androids who imparted human emotions to her. On her thirteenth birthday, her home was attacked by the hostile nation Spectra, leading her to discover the Sky Striker system and step onto the battlefield. Over two years of relentless fighting, she matures to fifteen, eventually encountering Spectra's own Sky Striker Ace, Roze.

Relationships

Raye was nurtured and educated by the androids of Karma, including Sierra, the Sage of Benevolence. Her central dynamic is with Sky Striker Ace - Roze, an opposing Sky Striker created by the enemy nation Spectra. Though initially opponents in battle, Raye's desire to understand Roze as a fellow human causes their relationship to evolve from fierce rivals to deeply connected companions.

Trivia

Her name is widely believed to be derived from the Zero Fighter (Reisen) or the concept of zero, matching the tactical military themes of her archetype. As one of the most iconic characters originating from the card game, her immense popularity led to her becoming the first protagonist of the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG STORIES manga, as well as receiving a fully rendered 3D model in Yu-Gi-Oh! Cross Duel.
