Overview
Rally Dawson is a character in the anime series Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's. Living in the Satellite district, he is the youngest member of Yusei Fudo's group of friends. Possessing a noticeably feminine appearance, he holds profound admiration and trust toward Yusei.
Appearance
Rally is a young boy with a highly feminine, androgynous appearance. Beneath his left eye, he bears a yellow facial marker, which was brandished on him after a past arrest. His attire consists of a tunic worn under an outer jacket layer.
Personality
Rally is earnest and devoted to his friends, though he previously struggled with a habit of stealing. While his reckless actions often stem from a genuine desire to help Yusei, he stops stealing altogether once brought to task. He possesses a noble, selfless spirit, willing to sacrifice himself for the sake of his closest companions.
Abilities
In card duels, Rally uses a low-level monster strategy combined with direct burn damage components. His ace monster is One-Shot Cannon, supported by low-level key cards such as One-Shot Booster and One-Shot Rocket.
Background
Rally spent his early days living alongside Yusei's group in Satellite. After stealing a D-Wheel enhancement component for Yusei, he attracted the attention of Sector Security officers, but pledged never to steal again after Yusei protected him. Before Yusei left for New Domino City, Rally gave him the card One-Shot Booster as a good luck charm. Later, under the control of Roman Goodwin, he was forced into a duel against Yusei, ultimately choosing to self-destruct via the effect of One-Shot Cannon to save Yusei. He was later restored to life following Roman's defeat.
Relationships
Rally is a close friend of Yusei Fudo from their shared days in Satellite, holding Yusei in high regard and trusting him entirely. He also shares a strong bond with his fellow Satellite companions, Blitz and Taka.
Trivia
Due to his feminine design and narrative role early in the story, Rally is frequently categorized as an 'otokonoko' (trap) and affectionately treated as a 'heroine' character by fans. Video game adaptations such as the Tag Force series reflect this by featuring dating-sim-style events and custom outfits tailored to these traits.
