Overview

Kizmel is a Dark Elf NPC introduced in the Elf War questline within the Sword Art Online series, notably featured in Sword Art Online Progressive. Serving as a member of the Dark Elven Royal Guard, she was originally scripted to perish in battle during the game's beta test. However, after being saved by Kirito and Asuna, she continues to travel alongside them as a unique companion.

Appearance

Kizmel features dark skin, pointed ears, purple eyes, and purple hair styled in a short bob, appearing visually to be in her early twenties. Possessing a remarkably voluptuous figure, her standard attire consists of a lightweight breastplate worn over a bodysuit-like inner layer, complemented by gloves, a cape, and earrings.

Personality

Dignified, earnest, and deeply principled, Kizmel embodies the ideal knightly persona. Despite her serious nature, she possesses a flexible and playful streak, often acting like a protective elder sister toward Kirito and Asuna. She is remarkably inquisitive, quickly picking up modern terms, proverbs, and game slang shared by her companions. Practical in her outlook, she views sharing living quarters and baths with her party members as logical preparation for common adventuring life.

Abilities

Though categorized within the system as a high-tier Dark Elven Royal Guard enemy, Kizmel fights alongside Kirito and Asuna, accumulating experience points and adapting to player tactics. In combat and exploration, she utilizes useful magic equipment, such as a special ring capable of curing poison every ten minutes and a stealth-granting cloak known as the Misty Night Cloak.

Background

Kizmel carries a tragic past, having lost her younger sister Tilnel, a pharmacist, in a battle against a Forest Elf falconer. After escaping her scripted death on the 3rd floor of Aincrad through the intervention of Kirito and Asuna, she continues to journey with them. During the 4th floor line of quests, a gondola named the Tilnel is crafted based on Kirito's idea to honor her sister, and it is later gifted to Kizmel after serving its purpose in the floor's completion.

Relationships

She shares a deep bond with Kirito and Asuna, treating them like her own younger siblings and caring for them deeply. She also gets along exceptionally well with the information broker Argo, who shares a similarly maternal and protective stance toward the duo. Additionally, Kizmel cherishes the memory of her deceased sister, Tilnel, and harbors hostility toward the Forest Elf falconer responsible for her death.

Trivia

In the manga adaptation, Asuna is overwhelmed by Kizmel's flawless physique during a shared bath, humorously concluding that her body must be the unrealized ideal designed by a male creator. While similar character models were used during the beta test, the scenario changes transformed her into a unique key character.
