Overview

Premiere is an original heroine introduced in the video game Sword Art Online: Hollow Realization. She is a mysterious NPC encountered by Kirito during the closed beta test of the VRMMORPG Sword Art: Origin. Initially existing as an unprogrammed blank slate with no name, parameters, or background lore, she receives her name from Kirito and his companions, slowly learning speech and human emotion through her journeys with them.

Appearance

She has short black hair with blunt-cut bangs, a golden hair ornament, light blue eyes, and a mole beneath her eye. Her attire consists of a lightweight long-sleeved dress colored sea-green with purple accents, paired with sandals. Her facial design resembles Sachi. In Sword Art Online: Alicization Lycoris, she also sports outfit options like the Jade Vine Workwear.

Personality

At first, Premiere acts completely emotionless and mechanical due to her missing character data. As she spends time with Kirito's group, she develops a gentle, innocent demeanor and learns to express genuine affection. She acquires a notable obsession with food and displays deep loyalty and attachment to Kirito, openly expressing a desire to remain by his side.

Abilities

To defend herself, she learns rapier combat from Kirito and his allies, wielding a rapier named Rusty Nail. When converted to ALfheim Online, she is classified as a Goddess; though wingless, she learns an ancient spell allowing her to levitate without wings. In Gun Gale Online, she dual-wields handguns along with an optical shotgun, acting in a support role that inflicts debuffs and assists healers.

Background

She first appeared as a nameless NPC offering a dummy quest with a tiny reward. In reality, she was designed as one of two twin goddesses integral to the game's unfinished grand quest. When the system forcibly activated her code using copied Sword Art Online data, it triggered a process that threatened to recreate and collapse Aincrad. Through the efforts of Kirito's party and her own willpower, she broke free from systemic control and helped avert the destruction of the virtual world.

Relationships

She forms a profound bond with Kirito, relying on him as her guide and protector. Asuna and Leafa assist in teaching her how to fight, while Yui and Strea support her as fellow artificial intelligences. She holds a deep compassion for her twin goddess, Tia, wishing for a peaceful future where they can smile together despite their tragic conflict. She is also aided by Seven during her transitions between virtual reality games.

Trivia

She was the centerpiece of a promotional Web project titled CODE ZERO: PREMIERE, where she learned vocabulary and built a persona through interactions with real-world users. Early in the game's development, the creators planned to include numerous identical copies of her character model before refining the concept down to the twin goddesses Premiere and Tia.
