Appearance
Leafa features long blonde hair worn in a ponytail or braids, sharp pointed ears, and green eyes, contrasting sharply with her real-world short black hair. Her primary ALfheim Online avatar dresses in a green and white outfit with exposed shoulders, paired with gloves, boots, jewelry, and long sleeves. In various game adaptations, her attire ranges from highly revealing costumes to swimsuits and bikinis. In Alicization Lycoris, she appears wearing armor modeled after a knight alongside the Spring Breeze Sword, tinted in a bright neon green scheme.
Personality
Energetic and athletic, Leafa possesses an unyielding spirit and a intense love for flying through virtual skies. Her dedication shines through her history as a top-eight national kendo competitor in reality. She exhibits immense bravery and selflessness, willing to endure agonizing hardships to protect others. Deeply caring toward her companions, she can also show a straightforward and skeptical side when observing the over-affectionate behavior between Kirito and Asuna.
Abilities
Leafa operates as a magic-swordsman, blending close-quarters blade combat with wind magic alongside healing, support, and hiding spells. She wields longswords categorized as one-handed blades, such as the Sweep Saber, using a two-handed grip to execute certain two-handed sword skills. As the Earth Goddess Terraria in the Underworld, she possesses authority to infinitely restore her Health Points by absorbing spatial resources, though she remains fully susceptible to physical pain. In Fatal Bullet, she wields light swords and assault rifles.
Background
After being rescued from a group of Salamanders by Kirito within ALfheim Online, Leafa agreed to guide him to the World Tree. During the crisis in the Underworld, she logged in using the super account Earth Goddess Terraria. Her fearsome combat prowess changed the hearts of individuals like the Orc leader Rilpirin, earning her veneration as the Green Swordsman and the Goddess of Earth and Swords.
Relationships
She is the cousin and adopted younger sister of Kazuto Kirigaya (Kirito). Meeting him in-game without knowing his identity, she later joins his central inner circle alongside Asuna, Lisbeth, and Silica. In the Underworld, she forms a profound connection with Rilpirin, the leader of the Orcs; her selflessness melts his hatred toward humanity and inspires him to break the seal on his right eye.
Trivia
The name Leafa is derived from her real-life name Suguha, taking the character for leaf and converting it to its English translation. She consistently relies on her Sweep Saber longsword up through volume 21 of the original light novel series. Her super account title in the Underworld is officially Earth Goddess Terraria, though it is frequently misremembered by fans as Earth Mother Goddess.
