Overview
Strea is a game-original heroine who first appeared in the video game adaptation Sword Art Online: Infinity Moment. Possessing combat prowess on par with the front-line players, she operates as a mysterious swordswoman whose past is unknown to anyone. Her true identity is MHCP-002, an artificial intelligence designed to serve as a Mental Health Counseling Program, rendering her a sister unit to Yui within the same system architecture.
Appearance
Strea has light purple hair, red eyes, and a voluptuous chest marked by two distinct moles. Her standard SAO avatar outfit, known as the Evade Dress, is styled in shades of purple and paired with thigh-high socks. She carries a massive two-handed sword named Invaria, which is nearly as tall as her entire body. In her corrupted Hollow Strea state, her appearance mutates into a mask-wearing entity with four arms and no lower legs, emerging directly from a giant red jewel.
Personality
Strea possesses a free-spirited and childlike personality, approaching everyone with unfiltered enthusiasm. Unbothered by social boundaries or romantic tension, she regularly startles those around her by suddenly hugging Kirito or sitting on his lap in public. Despite her playful demeanor and penchant for chaotic skin-ship, she tends to hide her internal conflicts, quietly shouldering the burden of her system duties until her distress forces itself to the surface.
Abilities
Strea commands high-level combat capability matching top front-line clearers, effortlessly wielding her massive two-handed sword Invaria. As an artificial intelligence program connected to the system, she has the authority to alter data, enabling her to forcibly buff floor bosses beyond their standard parameters. In her enlarged Hollow Strea form, she utilizes her four arms to exert devastating physical force.
Background
Created as the second prototype Mental Health Counseling Program (MHCP-002) for the Cardinal System, Strea accumulated excessive negative emotions from trapped players. This caused an error that led her to overwrite an unused player account and materialize on Aincrad's 76th floor. After befriending Kirito's group, her suppressed memories surfaced, triggering a violent system malfunction. Transformed into Hollow Strea, she confronted the players on the top floors before Kirito defeated her and Yui saved her core data from deletion.
Relationships
She harbors a deep affection for Kirito, initially stalking him unnoticed across multiple floors before initiating frequent, intense physical closeness. She recognizes Yui—the first prototype of the MHCP series—as her older sister. When trapped between her system directives and her personal feelings, her desire to protect Kirito ultimately drove her to shield him from absolute destruction.
Trivia
Her name is believed to originate from the Greek goddess Astraea. During the initial development of the game, she was originally named Evangeline. However, due to character-length limitations on the PlayStation Portable hardware, her name was shortened to Strea. In early design documents prior to her naming, developers tentatively referred to her as Black Yui.
