Overview
Tangtang is a character in Arknights: Endfield. A Feline woman who serves as the chief of the autonomous group Qingbo Stockade, she later joins Endfield Industries. Operating as a 6-star Cold-attribute Caster, she fights using dual handguns. Although she presents herself with the loud bravado of an outlaw, she possesses a deeply loyal and compassionate nature, fully prepared to shoulder the future of her faction and protect her people.
Appearance
She is a Feline girl with silver hair featuring an ahoge and purple eyes, adorned with tiger ears and a tiger tail. She wears a black eyepatch over her left eye. Her outfit consists of a sleeveless top exposing her armpits, gloves, black knee-high socks, and sneakers. In battle, she brandishes dual handguns named Luocao.
Personality
Tangtang is straightforward, free-spirited, and fiercely loyal, harboring a deep hatred for betrayal and a love for playing in the water. Although she puts on a tough act as the chief of her stockade, she secretly carries a heavy sense of responsibility. She struggles with literacy, often relying on voice tools or others to type messages and misreading complex words. A notable habit of hers is bestowing distinct three-character nicknames upon those she interacts with.
Abilities
As a Cold-attribute Caster, Tangtang inflicts Arts Fragility and Cold status on enemies. She relies on her high agility and rapid reloading to deliver accurate fire with her dual pistols, Luocao. Her Ultimate involves removing her eyepatch to release her Mystic Eye, unleashing water Arts that temporarily immobilize enemies—including bosses—within a specified area, culminating in a surge of Cold damage. Executing a plunge attack on restrained enemies immediately ends the hold to inflict even higher Cold damage.
Background
As an infant, Tangtang drifted down a river in a bamboo basket and was rescued by Ruan Lin, the leader of Qingbo Stockade, who raised her alongside his son Ruan Yi. Ten years prior to the main story, during a stockade raid on Wuling supply lines, her adoptive father was killed, and Tangtang lost her left eye and contracted Oripathy due to runaway Arts. Inheriting her father's dual pistols, she assumed leadership of the stockade. After meeting Endfield Industries during an Angel attack, she formed an alliance with them. Following the tragedy of her adoptive brother's rampage, she stabilized her faction, mended ties with Wuling, and officially joined Endfield Industries to seek answers and secure her people's future.
Relationships
Tangtang was raised by her adoptive father Ruan Lin alongside her adoptive brother Ruan Yi. She shares a long-standing rivalry with Mifu, the Wuling patrol captain and former stockade member, with whom she constantly bickers. She forms a deep bond of trust with the Administrator of Endfield, dubbing them the Black-Faced Demon and offering them the position of third-in-command. She also maintains a rivalry with the swordswoman Chen Qianyu (whom she calls the Little Blue Dragon), knows Perrica (the White-Faced Noh Mask), and negotiates directly with Wuling official Zhuang Fangyi.
Trivia
Her dual handguns, Luocao, are modeled after the Type 17 pistol (a Chinese derivative of the Mauser C96), taking their name from the idiom Luocao wei kou, which, alongside the wetland setting of Qingbo Stockade, references the outlaw motifs of the classic novel Water Margin. The mystic markings appearing during her Ultimate skill are inspired by the ancient Chinese diagrams known as Hetu Luoshu. Additionally, the coin displayed in her idle animation represents the Great Yan Currency, and she is known to hand out crude, self-drawn Tangtang Coupons as tokens of her highest gratitude.
