Overview

Aponia is a character in Honkai Impact 3rd who stands as the third member of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers, bearing the signet of Discipline. Originating from the slum district known as Twilight Street, she initially managed a clinic for patients afflicted with Honkai disease before being recruited into Fire-Moth. She eventually served as a counsellor and overseer within the hidden isolation facility known as The Deep. Endowed with the unique ability to perceive human destiny as delicate threads, she maintains a calm, motherly presence while quietly carrying the burden of tragic outcomes she cannot avert.

Appearance

Aponia has long ash-blonde hair with front bangs and melancholic ice-blue eyes, featuring a voluptuous physical build. Her attire resembles a nun's habit, featuring a long head veil combined with a highly revealing black dress adorned with white flower and butterfly motifs. The gown leaves her chest and back heavily exposed and includes high leg slits. She also features ethereal butterfly-shaped wings formed from Honkai energy on her back.

Personality

Aponia possesses a deeply peaceful and maternal temperament, addressing those around her in a soothing tone. Driven by immense compassion and self-sacrifice, she constantly seeks to grant salvation and shoulder the suffering or guilt of others, occasionally taking assertive actions out of pure concern for their well-being. Glimpsing the fixed nature of tragic fates gives her an aura of subtle helplessness and melancholy. Despite her pious appearance, she is a surprisingly formidable drinker who can easily consume whole bottles of wine during casual get-togethers.

Abilities

As a psychic Fusion Warrior combined with the Honkai Beast Mitra, Aponia possesses Discipline, an ability to restrict actions and draw out a person's physical potential through spoken requests. She also passively maintains Sight, a power that reveals human fate as visible threads, though she cannot alter the ultimate result. In combat, she delivers Lightning-element area attacks and phantom psychic assaults. During Active Honkai Reaction, she manifests four additional arms along with her butterfly wings, controlling phantom knights on the battlefield. Her power also served as the basis for the artificial technique known as Divine Voice.

Background

Aponia originally ran a sanatorium in Twilight Street caring for Honkai disease patients, taking in the injured Kalpas as well. When Honkai destroyed the district, Fire-Moth suspected her of causing the outbreak and sent Sakura to investigate. Once cleared, she was brought into Fire-Moth and underwent Fusion Warrior surgery with Mitra. She subsequently took up residence in The Deep to supervise unstable warriors and bear their malice. After losing her foresight following the 12th Herrscher tragedy and the death of her close friend Elysia, she asked Vill-V to merge her consciousness into the Elysian Realm.

Relationships

Aponia shares a long history with Kalpas from their days in Twilight Street; after placing a Discipline on him to prevent harm to innocents, he held deep resentment toward her. She shared close friendships with Eden, who was her drinking companion, and Elysia, whose optimism provided her emotional support. Sakura was the assassin who ultimately guided her to Fire-Moth. She served as a mother figure to young Griseo in The Deep, who affectionately calls her Mama, and she also aided Hua by unleashing the true potential of the 8th Divine Key.

Trivia

The Honkai Beast Mitra fused with her takes its name from the Vedic deity associated with daytime and cosmic order. To pass the time during her prolonged stay in isolation, Aponia learned several handcrafts and created custom accessories for every member of the Flame-Chasers. Despite her formidable ability to command human minds, she shows a grounded side by patiently queueing in line for store discounts. Over the course of her life in Fire-Moth, she performed over 400 distinct psychic interventions in attempts to save lives and preserve hope.
