Captain

Overview

The Captain is a character in Honkai Impact 3rd who serves as the player's avatar and commander of the battleship Hyperion. The character does not directly intervene in the main story, and their gender is left ambiguous within the main canon. However, they frequently take center stage as the protagonist in various event storylines and official spin-off media.

Appearance

In official 4-koma manga and derivative depictions, the Captain is commonly depicted as a man with short red hair, apricot-toned skin, and dark eyes. Visual assets often feature them wearing a white military uniform adorned with gold accents, accompanied by a captain's hat and white gloves. Other variations sometimes show them with white or purple hair and blue or purple eyes.

Personality

While serving primarily as an observer to the main narrative, the Captain displays a rounded personality in secondary scenarios. In comedic settings, they act as an overworked commander who frequently gets teased by the Valkyries and laments over workplace stress. Conversely, during serious parallel-world event storylines, the Captain demonstrates steadfast resolve, willing to face immense hardship and loop through tragic fates to protect those under their command.

Abilities

The Captain possesses no demonstrated direct combat powers in the main storyline, acting primarily in a command capacity aboard the Hyperion. In event-specific narratives, they exhibit the ability to navigate the Sea of Quanta and travel between distinct parallel universes.

Background

Positioned as the commander of the Hyperion, the Captain functions as an avatar through which players experience the universe of Honkai Impact 3rd without directly shifting the main storyline's core plot. Within dedicated event arcs, however, the Captain embarks on extensive travels across the Sea of Quanta, interacting with alternate versions of Valkyries to alter their fates.

Relationships

As the leader of the Hyperion, the Captain commands the respect and affection of the Valkyries. In event storylines, they share deep bonds with key figures across different realities, such as Starlit Astrologos, whom the Captain strove endlessly to save, Luna Kindred, and Fallen Rosemary, who shows profound devotion toward them.

Trivia

The red-haired, white-uniformed design popularized by the official 4-koma manga has become the widely accepted visual standard for the character among the fanbase. A recurring lighthearted running gag across side content involves the Captain worrying about stress-induced hair loss.
