Songque

Overview

Songque is a character appearing in Part 2 of the action game Honkai Impact 3rd. She is a member of the Seven Shus of Langqiu and holds the title of the Shu of Deception. Songque is the first local resident encountered by the Dreamseeker upon arriving in Langqiu. Presenting herself with an approachable and friendly demeanor, she guides the protagonist by explaining the history of Shadows and Shus while engaging in fortune-telling arts.

Appearance

Songque has long blonde hair, green eyes, and wears round sunglasses resting atop her head. Her outfit is designed around a teal bluebird color scheme, featuring bare shoulders, feather-patterned detached sleeves, and numerous decorative accessories. She carries a cylindrical container on her back and is depicted barefoot.

Personality

Songque possesses an open, straightforward, and welcoming demeanor. She has a habit of telling small, transparent lies and often behaves in a somewhat lazy or self-deprecating manner when comparing herself to more combat-oriented companions. While she can be fearful and hesitant, she displays remarkable resolve when faced with critical moments that demand sacrifice or action.

Abilities

Rather than relying on direct physical combat, Songque specializes in support capabilities, utilizing arts sophisticated enough to deceive reality itself. In gameplay, she functions as an AstralOp connector and operates as the physical and lightning element battlesuit "Jovial Deception: Shadowdimmer," bolstering allies and manipulating energy levels.

Background

Also known by the name Maria, Songque has lived for over a century as one of the Seven Shus. Her life served as a key mechanism for the Rite of Tears, a ritual meant to cleanse the Shadow Disaster from Langqiu. During a crisis, she willingly undertook this sacrificial ritual to defeat the overwhelming threat, though she later miraculously returned after her body was reconstructed into an extraordinary state.

Relationships

She acts as a warm guide for newcomers including the Dreamseeker, Senadina, Coralie, and Helia. Within the Seven Shus, she is affectionately addressed by Thelema and works alongside peers such as Lantern, Litost, Ajita, and Serapeum. Her master, Baiji, considers her completely irreplaceable due to the unique nature of her deception powers.

Trivia

During her visual design phase, an alternate concept featuring a pink-and-white outfit was considered before settling on her final bluebird-inspired motif. The various trinkets she wears are lore-wise explained as spoils gained through her fortune-telling business transactions.
