Kosma

Overview

Kosma is a character from Honkai Impact 3rd who serves as the ninth member of the Thirteen Flame-Chasers, bearing the Signet of "Daybreak." As a young soldier and MANTIS fusion warrior belonging to the organization Flame-Moth during the Previous Era, he harbors a strong admiration for heroes while carrying out solitary battles from the shadows. Although he often presents a cold and unapproachable exterior, he is fundamentally a noble-hearted yet introverted adolescent.

Appearance

Kosma has short green hair, orange eyes, pointy ears, black horns, and tattoos on his chest. His outfit consists of a green collared shirt worn beneath a grey jacket, paired with black pants and black boots. He wears gauntlets along with black gloves, and sports bat-wing earrings. Upon undergoing Active Honkai Reaction, his form mutates into a blue chimera combining features of a wolf, bat, and lizard.

Personality

Driven by a deep sense of justice, Kosma originally acted as a vigilante protecting others. He is quiet and deeply thoughtful, but his extreme awkwardness often prevents him from communicating smoothly, making him appear distant and secretive. Although he admires heroes, his self-awareness as a monstrous entity leads him to operate in the dark to keep others safe. He possesses a deeply considerate nature, shown in his awkward efforts to keep the memories of fallen comrades alive.

Abilities

As a fusion warrior who underwent surgery with the Honkai beast "Vishnu"—a beast reclassified up to the ultimate "Delivery" class—Kosma possesses the unique ability to endlessly devour and absorb other Honkai beasts to grow stronger. During combat, his chest cavity opens to release numerous tentacles that swallow targets whole. In his fully unleashed Active Honkai Reaction state, his combat prowess ranks among the very highest of the Flame-Chasers.

Background

Before joining Flame-Moth, Kosma acted as an urban vigilante. After being saved by Kevin during the Fourth Herrscher event, he enlisted and underwent genetic modification to become a fusion warrior. The tragic death of his beloved officer, Trace, during the Ninth Herrscher crisis triggered an intense rage that awakened his Active Honkai Reaction. Although he briefly fled, Mobius helped him regain control, and he returned to battle disguised as a mysterious beast to protect his allies' morale. He ultimately died fighting the Herrscher of Finality on the Moon.

Relationships

Kosma deeply respected his former superior, Trace, and took on the role of guardian and knight for Trace's daughter, Griseo. He idolized Kevin, the first of the Flame-Chasers, though their views clashed following Trace's death. He maintains a cautious gratitude toward Mobius for stabilizing his mutations. The harmonica he carries was a gift from his late comrade Dystopia, whose habit of giving gifts he adopted to honor her memory; notably, Kalpas was the only person who genuinely appreciated Kosma's peculiar gifts.

Trivia

Kosma picked up playing the harmonica following a gift from Dystopia, eventually honing his skills to a level appreciated by Eden. To accommodate Griseo's habit of stepping on canvases, he agreed to go barefoot alongside her. He is also the subject of a popular in-universe Q&A written by Elysia.
