Overview
Hinoa is a character in Monster Hunter Rise, serving as the Village Quest Maiden of Kamura Village. A Wyverian woman with a twin sister named Minoto, she possesses a serene and joyful demeanor that lights up the village like the sun. Having shared a close bond with the protagonist hunter since childhood, she manages the single-player village quests while providing continuous warmth and encouragement.
Appearance
As a Wyverian, Hinoa has pointed ears and four-fingered hands. She features long black hair styled with straight-cut bangs, accented by a single hair ornament, alongside green eyes and black gloves. Her outfit is the standard miko-style uniform worn by Kamura Village quest maidens, registered in the hunter equipment shop under the name Iori/Prayer.
Personality
Hinoa displays an exceptionally gentle and kindhearted temperament, winning the affection of village children and Buddies alike. Although she describes herself as quick to lose interest, this is actually the result of her natural genius, effortlessly mastering anything she attempts. She possesses a massive appetite with a passionate devotion to Bunny Dango, and her food consumption noticeably increases when she is troubled or anxious.
Abilities
Equipped with a brilliant mind capable of mastering any skill almost instantly, Hinoa possesses high combat proficiency. During Rampage defenses, she uses a Bow to rain paralyzing arrows over a wide area, restricting monster movements. In Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, she can join hunts as a Follower wielding a Bow, Light Bowgun, or Hunting Horn. She excels as a dedicated support combatant by frequently using Life Powder and delivering status buffs with the Hunting Horn.
Background
Raised in Kamura Village, Hinoa grew up alongside the protagonist hunter as a childhood friend. While facilitating village quests, she encounters a major crisis during the Rampage disaster when she begins to undergo an agonizing mental resonance with the Elder Dragon Wind Serpent Ibushi, experiencing its emotions directly. After surviving these events, her bond with the hunter remains unshakeable, leading her to assist them on hunts outside the village as a Follower.
Relationships
She holds deep affection and warmth toward the protagonist (the Fierce Flame), supporting them like family. Her twin sister Minoto works as the Hub Quest Maiden; the two share a close sisterly connection, though Minoto regularly manages Hinoa's eating habits. She shares an unforgettable memory with Village Chief Fugen, having once cleared out all the village's food reserves together during a celebration. She also experienced an involuntary mental connection with Wind Serpent Ibushi.
Trivia
She is the vocalist for Kamura Village's main theme song, Kamura's Song of Purification, as well as Wind Serpent Ibushi's battle theme, Breath of Ire. In the Follower system of Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak, her high utility when equipped with a Hunting Horn makes her one of the most frequently deployed allies among players. She also features charming interactive responses when returning gestures to the player.
