Overview

Minoto is a Wyverian quest receptionist introduced in Monster Hunter Rise, serving as the Hub Maiden for Kamura Village. She is the younger twin sister of Hinoa, the Village Maiden. Although her quiet and stoic demeanor often causes others to view her as cold or distant, she is actually a kind-hearted and deeply conscientious individual. Operating from the Gathering Hub, Minoto works diligently behind the scenes to assign hunting quests and support the village's hunters throughout their dangerous endeavors.

Appearance

Minoto is a Wyverian woman characterized by pointed ears and four fingers on each hand. She has straight black hair with blunt-cut bangs, sidelocks, and double hair ornaments, accompanied by black gloves. Her sharp, slightly upturned eyes give her facial expression a somewhat stern look. She wears the signature "Kannagi Maiden" shrine maiden uniform, which serves as the official attire for receptionists in Kamura Village.

Personality

Minoto maintains a calm, stoic exterior, which can give off an aloof or blunt impression. In reality, she possesses a warm and gentle nature. She harbors immense admiration for her twin sister Hinoa, quietly striving behind the scenes to match her standard and cooking all of Hinoa's daily meals. Despite her composed demeanor, Minoto has a clumsy side, most notably her notoriously poor and abstract artistic skills. Additionally, she prefers sitting quietly at her desk over engaging in outdoor activities or intense physical exercise.

Abilities

Despite her civilian role as a receptionist, Minoto is a highly skilled combatant who utilizes the Lance and the Hunting Horn. During the Rampage defense, she takes up an iron lance to perform long-reaching thrusts that emit shockwaves, pushing back incoming monsters. When acting as a Follower on hunting quests, she functions primarily as a defensive tank, using Stinkminks to draw monster aggro while using strong guards and protective hunting horn melodies to safeguard her allies.

Background

Minoto grew up in Kamura Village alongside her twin sister Hinoa and their childhood friend, the hunter. When the destructive Rampage threat resurfaced, her sister Hinoa entered a mysterious resonance with the Wind Serpent Ibushi, causing Minoto great anxiety. Shortly thereafter, Minoto herself experienced a resonance with the Thunder Serpent Narwa. This joint phenomenon led to the discovery of the Elder Dragons' location at the Coral Palace, allowing the hunter to eliminate the threat. Following the crisis, Minoto continues her quest duties while supporting the hunter in field operations as a Follower.

Relationships

Minoto holds her twin sister Hinoa in extremely high regard, doing everything she can to support her, including preparing all her meals. She maintains a close childhood connection with the protagonist hunter, managing their hub quests while showing genuine concern for their safety during hunts. Toward Master Utsushi, the enthusiastic village trainer, Minoto remains wary, actively avoiding his energetic invitations to join in his grueling physical conditioning workouts.

Trivia

Minoto provides the vocal performances for several in-game musical themes, including the Gathering Hub background music, title screen music, and the battle theme for Thunder Serpent Narwa. Additionally, her uniquely terrible drawing style was used for the official "Hunter's Guidebook" illustrations. Surprisingly, her bizarre art gained widespread popularity among the residents of Elgado, leading locals to request her signature and live painting demonstrations.
