Overview

Lagombi, also known as the White Rabbit Beast, is a Pelagus-class Fanged Beast introduced in Monster Hunter Portable 3rd. Adapted to live in freezing environments, this monster is widely known for its long, rabbit-like ears and thick coat of insulating white fur.

Appearance

Lagombi is covered in dense, highly insulating white fur and features long black ears resembling a rabbit's, which are as hard and sharp as a shell. Its underbelly is protected by a smooth, rigid plastron with distinct grooves. When standing upright, its heavy front legs and stance resemble a polar bear or Arzuros, while its facial structure is often noted to resemble a koala.

Personality

Lagombi is an omnivore with a strong preference for plant matter, though it will occasionally consume meat. It exhibits a calculating nature, burying gathered food such as mushrooms in the ground ahead of time so it can unearth and eat them to recover stamina when fatigued.

Abilities

Using its hard, smooth belly plastron like a sled, Lagombi glides across icy surfaces at high speeds to perform rapid charges, though it lacks precise tracking while sliding. In battle, it attacks with sharp claw slashes, throws snow blocks that induce Iceblight, and rolls snowballs that grow in size as they travel. It can also pounce on targets hampered by snow. Due to its acute hearing, it is highly vulnerable to sudden loud noises like Sonic Bombs.

Background

Lagombi inhabits various frigid regions throughout the series, including the Tundra, Frozen Seaway, Snowy Mountains, and Frost Islands. Equipment crafted from its materials includes Ice-elemental weapons and the popular Lagombi armor set, famous for its plush design topped with a rabbit-eared hood.

Relationships

Lagombi shares structural similarities and claw-slash fighting techniques with fellow Fanged Beast Arzuros. In snowy habitats, it shares territory with arctic monsters like Blangonga.

Trivia

Due to its rabbit motif, Lagombi was a popular subject for fan art during the 2011 Year of the Rabbit. Special event quests featured extreme size variations, including a comically small rabbit-sized individual and an enormous giant individual featured in a ONE PIECE collaboration quest.
