Kasandra

Overview

Kasandra is a Dark-element Rare Blade in Xenoblade Chronicles 2, designed by Shirabi. Classified under the Shield-Arts defense role, she wields a massive hammer in combat. She is a cheerful, optimistic girl who genuinely desires to share good fortune with those around her. However, she is entirely unaware that a strange jinx surrounds her, bringing bad luck to her immediate environment. Players can obtain her by bonding with the Lucky Core Crystal, dropped upon defeating a specific unique monster.

Appearance

Kasandra is a girl with long black hair, red eyes, pointed ears, and animal-like ear features. She wears clothing reminiscent of shrine maiden attire, accompanied by earrings and a chest jewel. Bandages wrap her limbs, which feature spiked rings around the joints and sharp, demonic claws on her hands and feet. Attached to the back of her head is a white fox mask that creates the illusion of horns when viewed from the front. She carries a heavy hammer capable of deploying nail-shaped ether.

Personality

Kasandra possesses an exceptionally bright and optimistic personality, always striving to remain positive and supportive of her allies. A peaceful spirit at heart, she frequently tries to share good luck with others and enjoys performing fortune-telling, though she can demonstrate resolute boldness when situations demand it. She is completely oblivious to the chaotic misfortune that erupts around her. Her personal preferences include staple foods, cosmetics, artistic statues, and astrology books.

Abilities

As a defense-oriented Blade, Kasandra excels at generating and maintaining enemy aggression while sustaining herself by restoring HP upon landing critical hits. Her Special attacks include Sentimental Burst, which detonates concentrated Dark ether, as well as Hidden Emotion and Melancholy Breaker, both of which release waves of bandages. During Secret Desire, she places her mask over her face to unleash her true potential in an unconscious state, leaving her with no memory of the event. Her field capabilities encompass Nopon Wisdom, Agronomy, and her unique skill, Lucky Girl.

Background

Kasandra's Core Crystal originally ended up inside the unique monster Gluttonous Marrin after it consumed her previous Driver. Upon being re-awakened by a new Driver, she embarks on various endeavors, such as attempting to help resolve a crisis at a local bakery in Torigoth. She continues her journey alongside her companions with unyielding optimism, remain completely unconscious of the bizarre mishaps that constantly unfold in her wake.

Relationships

Upon joining Rex and his companions, Kasandra draws the attention of Zeke, who feels an immediate sense of kinship with her due to his own chronic bad luck. However, while Zeke's misfortune primarily strikes him directly, Kasandra's peculiar curse causes unpredictable trouble for the people around her instead.

Trivia

Her Japanese name, Kasane, is believed to be derived from the ghost story Kasane-ga-fuchi and its central vengeful spirit, Kasane. Her signature fox mask occasionally rattles on its own. Although her unique field skill is titled Lucky Girl, its in-game description explicitly categorizes it as a curse rather than a standard talent.
