Overview

Taion is one of the main playable characters in Xenoblade Chronicles 3. Hailing from the nation of Agnus, he serves as a soldier affiliated with Colony Gamma. As a skilled Tactician endowed with exceptional insight and strategic intellect, he travels alongside Mio and Sena. He acts as the team's reliable strategist, though his overly cautious nature and passionate temperament often emerge when unexpected situations arise.

Appearance

Taion is an eighteen-year-old young man with dark skin, short hair, black eyes, and glasses. He wears a white jacket alongside a distinctive orange scarf around his neck. The Iris mark of life is located on the palm of his left hand. In certain attire, a downward-pointing, isosceles triangle-shaped crystal is visible on his chest.

Personality

Taion prioritizes logic and efficiency in combat, maintaining a calm facade to suppress his naturally quick-tempered and competitive spirit. Despite his composed exterior, he easily panics during unforeseen crises and grieves deeply for lost allies. He values practicality over fashion, becoming thoroughly incensed if anyone criticizes his scarf. Although his strategic methods can seem overly cautious, he ultimately cares deeply for his companions and finds it difficult to refuse direct requests.

Abilities

In battle, Taion manipulates paper familiars called Katashiro, which he nicknames Mondo, performing versatile roles spanning attack, defense, reconnaissance, and healing. Operating in the Tactician class, he focuses on ether-based attacks that inflict status ailments and broad-area recovery. When Interlinking with Eunie, he transforms into an Ouroboros form, gaining abilities that erode enemy status resistances and prolong negative status effects on opponents.

Background

Taion served as a ninth-term Agnian soldier stationed at Colony Gamma under commanders Isurugi and Nami. While operating alongside Mio and Sena, a pivotal encounter brought him face-to-face with soldiers from the opposing nation of Keves. This event triggered his awakening as an Ouroboros, prompting him to join forces with his former enemies to uncover the true nature of the world.

Relationships

Taion shares a foundation of deep trust with his Agnian comrades, Mio and Sena. As an Ouroboros partner to Eunie, he maintains a dynamic where their contrasting personalities complement each other's flaws, despite their frequent bickering. He also holds significant ties to his former commanders, Isurugi and Nami.

Trivia

Although Taion claims to have no personal hobbies, he secretly enjoys brewing herbal tea. However, his lack of culinary skill combined with an unfortunate habit of experimenting with recipes once resulted in a concoction so severe it nearly brought Mio and Sena to harm, earning him a scolding from Manana.
