Overview
Minoth is a character who appears in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and its expansion Xenoblade Chronicles 2: Torna - The Golden Country. He is a Dark-element Flesh Eater—a Blade fused with human cells—who severed ties with his original Driver, Amalthus of Indol, and subsequently joined Addam Origo's forces to combat Malos during the Aegis War.
Appearance
Minoth has long black and brown hair tied into a ponytail, blue eyes, and a visible scar around his left eye. His chest features a Core Crystal tinged with red due to his Flesh Eater status. He wears shoulder armor and black gloves, wielding dual Gunknives in battle. By the time of the main story 500 years later, he has visibly aged into an old man and wears a deep-hooded robe to disguise his identity.
Personality
Despite his tough and intimidating exterior, Minoth is a thoughtful and reliable individual. He maintains a friendly yet respectful camaraderie with Addam. He harbors a passion for writing plays, with his scripts being well-received by his allies during their travels. Minoth also possesses a deeply compassionate nature, taking in and raising refugee orphans in his later years.
Abilities
Minoth operates as a Dark-element attacker wielding dual Gunknives, combining quick sword strikes and firearm barrage. His battle skills allow him to evasively counter incoming strikes, boost his damage output through action cancels, and control enemy hate. Out of combat, he possesses skills in Entomology and Forestry. While being a Flesh Eater grants him independence from a Driver, it cost him his immortality and caused him to age over time without bestowing any special supernatural talents, leading him to consider himself a failure.
Background
Originally awakened by Acolyte Amalthus, Minoth parted ways with his Driver and later re-encountered Addam during the Aegis War, choosing to fight alongside his group against Malos. Following the war, he assumed the alias Cole and established a theater in Fonsa Myma within the Kingdom of Uraya, writing plays while raising orphaned children. Centuries later, introduced by his old mercenary acquaintance Vandham, he meets Rex's party and directs them toward Amalthus to assist their journey to Elysium.
Relationships
Minoth abandoned his original Driver, Amalthus. During the Aegis War, he allied with Addam Origo, affectionately referring to him as 'Prince.' His written works were widely enjoyed by traveling companions such as Haze and Brighid. Through his longtime mercenary acquaintance Vandham, he connects with Rex and Pyra, offering them vital advice regarding his former Driver.
Trivia
Minoth has a preference for staple foods and perfume items, with Luska Dumpling Soup and Glamorous Perfume listed among his favorite choices.
