Appearance
Taiwan has long black or chestnut hair featuring a distinctive 40-centimeter-long curly strand sticking out from her hair parting, alongside flower ornaments worn on one or both sides of her head. Her attire consists of a pink long-sleeved top combining traditional sleeve styling with qipao-style fasteners, paired with a white pleated skirt-like garment. She wears black tights or knee-high socks on her legs and is occasionally depicted carrying a hand mirror to check her look.
Personality
Taiwan possesses a resilient, unyielding spirit paired with a relaxed, cheerful disposition. She maintains an exceptionally positive mindset, often ignoring unfavorable fortunes or bad omens. Her speech pattern carries a distinctively accented tone. While early descriptions emphasized her tendency to encounter unending worries, her upbeat and self-paced nature remains her defining trait. She takes great care with her personal style and exhibits a strong openness toward foreign pop culture, enthusiastically participating in cosplay and related events.
Abilities
She possesses exceptional culinary skills, demonstrated by her ability to prepare delicious meals and offer them at affordable prices, earning appreciation from those around her.
Background
Initial depictions of Taiwan appeared on the author's official website alongside other Asian personifications before she expanded into official print releases and audio dramas. Her voice debut occurred in a drama track included with China's character song CD, written by the original creator. Subsequently, she has made appearances in spin-off settings like Gakuen Hetalia in the published volumes as well as annual web Halloween events, where her costume choices and festive participation became recurring highlights.
Relationships
Taiwan addresses China as "Sensei," though she comfortably teases him by casually poking his cheek. She maintains a warm relationship with Japan, gifting him Valentine's chocolates and expressing enthusiasm for his country's otaku culture. She has also interacted with Vietnam by sending her a custom cosplay outfit in hopes of attending anime conventions together. Additionally, she keeps a Taiwan water buffalo and a small bird, the Taiwan yuhina, as her official pets.
Trivia
Her signature pink outfit is a custom creation designed by the author, blending elements of traditional Asian attire such as Hanfu sleeves and qipao buttons rather than replicating a specific historic garment. Her 40-centimeter ahoge holds the record for the longest hair strand among all characters in the series. Although no official human name has been assigned to her, several candidate names exist among fan discussions, and her visual motifs frequently incorporate the plum blossom, the national flower of Taiwan.
