Chilchuck Tims

Overview

Chilchuck Tims is one of the main characters in Delicious in Dungeon. He is a half-foot lockpicker and trap disarmer serving as the scout for Laios Toden's adventuring party. Despite his youthful, child-like physical appearance, he is actually a 29-year-old adult. Within dungeon exploration, Chilchuck utilizes his keen senses to unlock doors and disarm dangerous mechanisms, securing the party's safety. He maintains a realistic and pragmatic demeanor, frequently acting as the sharp-tongued straight man to his eccentric companions.

Appearance

Chilchuck is a small half-foot standing around 110 cm tall and weighing about 22 kg. He has short brown hair with a cowlick and brown eyes. His outfit consists of a white shirt under leather armor, black pants, a green neck warmer, brown fingerless gloves, and boots, along with his essential lockpicking tools. When transformed by Changeling mushrooms, his Tallman form is a lean middle-aged man with a butt chin and blue stubble, while his Dwarf form turns him into a stocky dwarf.

Personality

Chilchuck is a cool-headed professional who strictly views dungeon exploration as a job. He prioritizes clear contracts and upfront payment, while detesting romantic entanglements inside an adventuring party. When disarming traps, he becomes extremely high-strung and irritable if interrupted. Despite his cynical mouth, he deeply cares for his companions and founded a local guild to prevent young half-foots from being exploited. He harbors severe trauma toward mimics, likes coin bugs, loves drinking ale, and dislikes sweet side dishes.

Abilities

Possessing exceptional senses and echo-location capabilities, Chilchuck can map out architectural structures and locate traps. He disarms mechanisms and picks locks with extraordinary precision, sometimes stripping off his shoes and gloves to utilize bare skin sensitivity. His light weight helps prevent triggering weight-sensitive traps. Lacking strength and magic for direct combat, he hides to analyze enemy weaknesses while offering long-range archery support or accurate object throws. He is also fluent in multiple languages, using them for translation and articulate swearing.

Background

Born in the Eastern Continent in the year 485, Chilchuck married his childhood friend at age 13 and raised three daughters. He left his hometown at 19 to work in dungeon-related trade, arriving on the island at age 24. After surviving a novice ordeal where half-foots were treated as monster bait, he established a local half-foot guild to protect his kin. Though currently separated from his wife, he maintains contact with his grown daughters: Mayjack, Fullertom, and Packpatty. Originally planning to retire, he accepted Laios's high-paying contract to rescue Falin.

Relationships

Chilchuck constantly despairs over Laios Toden's eccentric monster obsession, yet acts as a mature guide and cares deeply for his safety. He bickers endlessly with Marcille Donato over romantic gossip, though he once braided her hair and shares mutual trust. He respects Senshi's culinary skills and ecological mindset, despite hating being babied by him. Due to his compact size and high body heat, he is reluctantly used as a sleeping body pillow by Izutsumi. He also shares a realistic mindset and drinking companionship with Namari.

Trivia

His surname 'Tims' is a patronymic meaning 'son of Tim,' meaning his daughters carry the patronymic 'Chils.' In half-foot culture, addressing someone solely by their front name—such as 'Chil'—is reserved for very close personal ties. Visually, his personal preference in women is a blonde beauty.
