Overview
Lycion is a character from the manga series Dungeon Meshi. He is a male elf serving a life sentence for the crimes of body modification using ancient magic, murder, and assault. As a convict assigned to the Canaries—a specialized unit tasked with managing dangerous dungeons—he functions as a frontline vanguard. Despite his seemingly relaxed and casual demeanor, he possesses sharp powers of observation.
Appearance
He is an elven male with notched ears denoting his status as a convict, yellow or green eyes, and long silver or grey hair styled into low twintails using hair tubes. His entire upper body and arms are decorated with intricate magical spell markings. Due to his ability causing his body to expand upon transformation, his attire consists solely of a loincloth.
Personality
While presenting a casual and relaxed exterior, he is fundamentally driven by intense narcissism. He harbors a deep aversion to his natural elven looks and regards his werewolf form as the epitome of true beauty. Despite these idiosyncratic views, he is reasonably sociable and possesses a caring side when dealing with others.
Abilities
Through ancient spell markings tattooed across his body that function as magic circles, he can transform into a powerful werewolf. His transformation operates by combining a beast's soul into a human body, allowing the human soul to control the beast's nature for high combat effectiveness.
Background
Driven by severe distress over his native appearance, he spent his youth fighting in underground arenas as a form of self-punishment. Upon discovering forbidden ancient magic that blends a beast's soul into a human vessel, he sought out a practitioner to undergo artificial beastification. He subsequently returned to secret combat arenas to exhibit his transformed body, which ultimately led to his arrest for employing taboo magic.
Relationships
He maintains a close friendship with his fellow Canary prisoner Fleki, who frequently teases him about his exhibitionism and self-love. When Izutsumi asks him about regaining human form, he explains the magical mechanics behind their respective transformations, though the explanation inadvertently conveys that her wish is structurally impossible. He also experiences friction with Laios Touden over their contrasting views on monster transformation, and remains perceptive enough to see through Kabru's motives.
Trivia
He originates from the Southern Central Continent. His preferred diet consists of meat, while he strongly dislikes leafy vegetables, particularly their stems.
