Residing in the 6th Layer of the Abyss, the Capital of the Unreturned, it is an Interference Unit—a sentient machine dedicated to observing and collecting information. It travels alongside Faputa, acting as her loyal guardian and protector, with its name carrying the meaning of "Guardian of the Queen."

Appearance

Gabuurun is a massive mecha featuring a heavy metallic body. A portion of its head suffered severe structural damage during a prior encounter, which is covered and sealed using a makeshift basket.

Personality

Gabuurun is calm, analytical, and highly intelligent, driven by its core mandate to observe, interact with, and gather knowledge about the Abyss. It demonstrates a deep sense of care and protective affection toward Faputa, consistently displaying selflessness and devotion.

Abilities

Background

Gabuurun encountered Faputa shortly after she left the Hollow Village. Though initially met with suspicion, it formed a bond with her by teaching her language and knowledge in exchange for mechanical spare parts to repair itself. After being rendered inactive by primeval creatures, it was revived with the help of Reg. During the attack on the Hollow Village, it shielded Riko at the cost of catastrophic damage, and ultimately sacrificed itself by distracting a wild creature to save Faputa, leading to its complete destruction.

Relationships

Gabuurun shared a profound bond with Faputa, serving as a parental figure who taught her language and protected her to the end. It interacted with Reg during its temporary deactivation, and later put its life on the line to shield Riko from Faputa's rampage.

Trivia
