Prushka

Overview

Prushka is a key character in the dark fantasy series Made in Abyss. Residing in the Ido Front base within the fifth layer of the Abyss, she is the adoptive daughter of the White Whistle delver, Bondrewd the Novel. Named by her father with a title meaning Flower of Dawn, she was raised in the depths without ever seeing the surface world. Possessing an eager curiosity and a bright spirit, she longs to explore the unknown, a desire ignited further upon meeting Riko and her companions.

Appearance

Prushka is a young girl with short white hair containing green inner streaks, featuring twisted curly bangs caused by the ascensional strain of the Abyss's fifth layer. She has striking red eyes. Her attire consists of a white shirt paired with a necktie, a green coat, and matching green gloves. She wears a prominent large hat that serves as a resting place for her pet creature, Meinya, and carries binoculars.

Personality

Characterized by her bright, energetic, and adventurous disposition, Prushka possesses a strong curiosity about the world outside her home. Influenced by her tutor Guira, she speaks in a frank and slightly boyish manner. Despite her rough speech, she is warm-hearted, attentive, and caring toward guests, quickly preparing rooms and offering guidance. She holds an absolute, innocent affection for her adoptive father, Bondrewd, proudly referring to him as the best father. She displays both naive purity and normal teenage self-consciousness.

Abilities

Prushka is capable of exploring the hazardous regions within Ido Front and possesses basic medical skills to apply first aid to those affected by the Abyss's strains. By smelling her pet Meinya, she can perceive the invisible flow of the Abyss's force field. After her physical form turns into a Life Reverberating Stone and is carved into a White Whistle, she grants enhanced capabilities and direct resonance to Reg whenever Riko blows the whistle. Her consciousness persists within the artifact, allowing her to share Riko's sensory experiences and communicate through dreams or with those who can hear the voice of stones.

Background

Originally the child of one of the Umbra Hands, Prushka lost her sanity after experiencing the fifth layer's ascensional curse at a very young age. Bondrewd took her in, named her Prushka, and raised her as his daughter, restoring her mental health by gifting her the creature Meinya. When Riko and her group arrived at Ido Front, Prushka befriended them and harbored a dream of adventuring together. Unbeknownst to her, Bondrewd harbored her love specifically to convert her into a living curse-warding device known as a cartridge. Processed into a cartridge to absorb the sixth layer's curse for Bondrewd, her physical body was discarded. However, her overwhelming desire to travel with Riko transformed her remains into a Life Reverberating Stone. Later refined into a complete White Whistle in the Village of Ilblu, she joined Riko's party on their descent into the sixth layer.

Relationships

Prushka held absolute adoration for her adoptive father, Bondrewd, viewing him as a wonderful parent without realizing he cultivated her affection to use her as an experiment tool. She formed a rapid and deep friendship with Riko over their shared passion for exploration, eventually becoming Riko's White Whistle. She also bonded with Reg and Nanachi during their stay at Ido Front. Her pet, Meinya, was a cherished birthday gift from her father, while her informal speech style was inherited from her mentor, the Umbra Hand named Guira.

Trivia

Although her name translates to Flower of Dawn, Prushka spent her entire life inside the Abyss and had never once seen an actual dawn. Due to a misunderstanding about how one becomes a father, she humorously referred to Reg's male anatomy as a papa stick. Despite her tomboyish nature, she maintained a strict habit of locking her bedroom door at night as a proper growing lady.
