Tepaste

Overview

Tepaste is a supporting character in the manga series Made in Abyss. Affiliated with the delve group Under Nest, she is a female Cave Raider who ventured into the depths of the Abyss on a Last Dive alongside her senior, Cravali. Although she does not carry a whistle to mark an official raider rank, her extensive experience within the deep layers is undeniable. During her descent, she gets separated from her companion and subsequently encounters the members of the Hail Hex delve squad.

Appearance

Tepaste is a woman of petite build with short, heavily twisted Abyss hair that features shades of pink, red, and white, accompanied by blue eyes. She does not wear a Cave Raider whistle. Her outfit consists of a pink cropped jumpsuit with a wide chest opening, paired with black elbow-length gloves. The interior of her suit is lined with friction-reducing fleece, and because her nipples are inverted, she wears the garment directly against her bare skin without any bra or undergarments.

Personality

Tepaste possesses a remarkably uninhibited and flirtatious temperament. She expresses her desires openly and without reservation, notably propositioning her senior, Cravali, just prior to a dangerous plunge into the depths. Beneath her sensual demeanor lies an exceptionally sharp eye for observation. She remains coolly analytical in high-risk environments, maintaining a fearless attitude when confronting unpredictable situations in the Abyss.

Abilities

Despite being an unranked delver without a whistle, her strongly twisted Abyss hair indicates years of survival experience within the deep Abyss. Her power of observation is exceptionally keen, enabling her to correctly identify the Umbra Hand Gyarike while unmasked solely by analyzing his unique gait. She also exhibits lethal combat prowess, capable of deflecting and incapacitating an aggressive opponent like Yelme in a fraction of a second.

Background

As a Cave Raider associated with Under Nest, Tepaste launched a Last Dive into the profound layers of the Abyss together with her mentor, Cravali. When Cravali suffered severe injuries along the perilous route, Tepaste had to press onward alone. After becoming separated from her partner during the dive, she eventually crossed paths with Nishagora and the rest of the Hail Hex expedition deep within the Abyss.

Relationships

Tepaste shares a close working relationship with her senior, Cravali, affectionately calling him her senior and accompanying him on their joint Last Dive. She demonstrated her analytical instincts by identifying the Umbra Hand Gyarike without his mask, and easily subdued Yelme when he initiated a conflict with her. After parting ways with Cravali, she formed connections with Nishagora and the members of the Hail Hex fleet.

Trivia

Even without a formal Cave Raider whistle, Tepaste displays the characteristic heavily twisted Abyss hair typically acquired by veterans who have spent prolonged periods in the deep layers. Her unique fashion choice of wearing an open-chested suit without underwear relies on functional design elements, such as chafing-resistant fleece lining suited to her natural anatomy.
