Pakkoyan

Overview

Pakkoyan is a character from Made in Abyss. Originally a female crew member of the Ganja suicide squad that explored the sixth layer, she later became a Hollow resident of Ilblu Village.

Appearance

As a human, Pakkoyan was a woman with short blue hair, blunt cut bangs, and blue or purple drooping eyes. After transforming into a Hollow, her body became covered in fur and gained a tail, animal-like ears, and a single large eye. She wears a brown capelet or scarf over a shirt. Despite her transformation, her facial features retain a strong resemblance to her human form.

Personality

Having been driven from her homeland in the past, Pakkoyan was deeply moved upon reaching the sixth layer of the Abyss. She harbored profound affection and devotion toward Vueko during their time in the Ganja squad, a love that persisted even after she turned into a Hollow and lost the ability to speak human language. She possesses a selfless nature, willing to sacrifice herself to keep Vueko safe.

Abilities

As a resident of Ilblu, Pakkoyan operated as a veteran hunter, wielding a gun-like relic in combat and hunting excursions.

Background

Pakkoyan joined the Ganja suicide squad's expedition into the Abyss, serving as an assistant to Vueko in managing the crew's health. Upon reaching the sixth layer and the creation of Ilblu, she transformed into a Hollow and lived as a village hunter. During the collapse of Ilblu, she saved Vueko from the curse of the Abyss by tossing her to safety, but slipped outside the protective membrane herself and dissipated.

Relationships

Pakkoyan shared a deeply intimate bond with Vueko (Vuereruko) during their human days, assisting her and displaying romantic affection toward her. Even after turning into a Hollow, Pakkoyan quietly looked after Vueko from afar and ultimately gave her life to protect her.

Trivia

Pakkoyan is one of the few non-Three Sages characters depicted in both her human Ganja squad era and her Hollow form. Her identity connecting her human past to her Hollow present was officially confirmed on the back cover of the ninth manga volume.
