Overview

Ozen, also known by her titles "The Immovable Lord" and "Ozen the Immovable," is a legendary White Whistle Delver in Made in Abyss. Stationed at the Seeker Camp in the Abyss's second layer, she leads the exploration group known as The Layabouts. Standing over two meters tall, she maintains a youthful physical appearance despite having held her White Whistle rank for more than fifty years. As the former master of Lyza the Annihilator, she possesses extensive knowledge of the Abyss and plays a key role as an authoritative mentor.

Appearance

Ozen stands well over two meters tall with a sickly white face and dark, slit-like facial features. To hide scalp deformations caused by the Curse of the Abyss, she wears a uniquely styled black short haircut streaked with white. Beneath her shoes, her feet lack a standard human shape. She maintains a severe slouch that causes her bones to crack loudly whenever she straightens up. When outfitted for exploration, she wears black attire with a high-shouldered cape, a wide disc-shaped helmet covering her face, and heavy gauntlets, giving her the appearance of a headless giant. Additionally, she has 120 Thousand-Men Pins embedded throughout her body.

Personality

Ozen speaks in a flat, slow-paced tone and frequently utters harsh insults, harboring a strong distaste for childish deception. When excited, her facial expressions become deeply alarming, and she cold-shoulders anyone attempting physical affection. However, beneath her harsh exterior lies a deeply pragmatic and responsible caretaker. Because she understands the unforgiving nature of the Abyss, she refuses to offer false comfort and instead delivers blunt, practical guidance. She also demonstrates genuine consideration for her sensitive apprentice and enjoys drinking alcohol alongside rare delicacies.

Abilities

Ozen possesses incredible physical power augmented by 120 Thousand-Men Pins embedded in her body, an artifact said to grant the strength of a thousand men per pin. Her immense power allows her to strain incredibly durable mechanical limbs with her grip alone. Rumors dating back half a century claim she once pulled up a basket carrying thirty people and supported a ten-meter boulder. Beyond physical combat, her decades of deep cave raiding give her extraordinary expertise in survival techniques, artifact mechanics, and hidden truths known to White Whistles.

Background

Having obtained her White Whistle title over fifty years ago, Ozen has long established herself as a legendary raider. During a past struggle over an artifact called the Unheard Bell, she assisted her apprentice Lyza with childbirth and helped carry the infant Riko out of the depths inside the Curse-Warding Box. She currently resides at the Seeker Camp as its guardian. When Riko and Reg reach the base, Ozen presents herself as hostile to test their resolve before revealing Riko's true origins. After putting them through rigorous survival training, she provides them with vital Abyss lore and Lyza's former weapon, the Blaze Reap, before sending them onward.

Relationships

Ozen maintained a deep connection with her former student, Lyza the Annihilator, holding strong personal affection for her. While she harbored complex feelings toward Lyza's husband Torka and daughter Riko, she ultimately equips Riko and Reg for their expedition. She cares for her current apprentice, Marulk, accommodating his condition while entertaining her own quirk of dressing him in maid attire. She takes a liking to the Moon Whistle Jiruo, whom she once invited to be her disciple, whereas she strongly loathes and warns others about fellow White Whistle Bondrewd.

Trivia

Ozen's visual design concept blends elements of a minotaur and a witch. She nonchalantly refers to the 120 Thousand-Men Pins embedded in her skin as her personal secret to maintaining good health. She also has a blunt habit of trying to fix broken machinery by hitting it.
