Overview
Falco Grice is a prominent character in Hajime Isayama's series Attack on Titan. As an Eldian Warrior Candidate serving the Marleyan military, he undergoes rigorous training alongside his peers to inherit one of the Nine Titans. Despite living under the constant shadow of military conflict and systemic oppression, Falco is distinguished by his remarkable kindness, innate empathy, and strong moral compass. He strives to protect those he cares about, particularly his fellow candidate Gabi Braun, while maintaining his humanity in a violent world.
Appearance
Falco Grice is depicted as a young boy with short blonde hair and yellow eyes. His standard outfit consists of a Marleyan military uniform with a white jacket. In addition to his uniform, he equips several functional military accessories, including suspenders, a pouch, a backpack, and bandages.
Personality
Falco possesses a gentle, deeply empathetic, and selfless temperament. Even within hostile combat environments or medical facilities, he treats the sick and wounded with genuine care and consideration. He frequently acts as a voice of moderation and a calming influence when those around him behave rashly. Driven by a deep romantic affection for Gabi Braun, he exhibits immense courage and willingness to self-sacrifice, determined to bear heavy burdens himself to protect her from suffering.
Abilities
As a warrior candidate in the Marleyan army, Falco possesses foundational military training. After consuming Porco Galliard, he inherits the power of the Jaw Titan. Because his transformation was initiated through Zeke Yeager's spinal fluid, his Jaw Titan manifests avian characteristics including feathered wings, talons, and a beak-like jaw. This grants him the unique ability to fly, allowing him to transport allies and support combat operations from the air.
Background
With his uncle identified as an Eldian Restorationist, Falco enrolled as a Marleyan warrior candidate to protect his family and older brother Colt from suspicion. Following the war with the Middle-East Allied Forces, he aimed to inherit the Armored Titan to save Gabi Braun from a shortened life. In Liberio, he naively helped a disguised Eren Yeager by sending letters, feeling betrayed upon discovering the truth. After arriving on Paradis Island, he adopted the pseudonym Ben while residing at the Braus farm. After accidentally consuming Zeke's spinal fluid, he transformed into a Pure Titan before acquiring the Jaw Titan. Following the resolution of the war, he retired from military service and embarked on a journey around the world with Gabi, Onyankopon, and Levi.
Relationships
Falco harbors romantic feelings for Gabi Braun, consistently putting his safety on the line to shield her from harm. He shares a strong sibling bond with his older brother Colt Grice and maintained warm friendships with fellow candidates Udo and Zofia. While he initially held high regard for Eren Yeager under his military cover, the revelation of Eren's identity created profound resentment. He was also looked after by senior warriors Reiner Braun, Porco Galliard, and Pieck, and ultimately traveled the world with Gabi, Levi, and Onyankopon.
Trivia
The character's name, Falco, alongside his Titan's physical traits, directly references the falcon, reflecting the avian features and flight capability seen in his Jaw Titan form. In the official character popularity poll conducted upon the manga's conclusion, he secured 14th place overall.
