Power

Overview

Power is a central character in the manga and anime series Chainsaw Man. She is a Blood Fiend—the Blood Devil possessing a young woman's corpse—who was taken in by Makima to be trained as a Public Safety Devil Hunter in Special Division 4. Assigned as the combat partner of Denji, she resides with him in the apartment of Aki Hayakawa. Despite her chaotic, boastful demeanor and turbulent habits, she plays a vital role in the lives of her fellow hunters.

Appearance

Power appears as a young woman with very long milk-tea blonde hair, sharp teeth, and two red horns protruding from the top of her head. Her orange eyes contain crosshair-like target patterns. Though slender, she routinely wears breast padding to artificially enhance her bust. Her standard attire consists of a white collared shirt worn loosely with a black necktie beneath a blue jacket, paired with black pants rolled up at the cuffs and white shoes featuring red trim and orange laces. She is also depicted wearing a pink long-sleeved shirt printed with 76.1 alongside denim short shorts.

Personality

Power exhibits an arrogant demeanor, employing theatrical phrasing to elevate herself above others. In truth, she is childish, selfish, and opportunistic, frequently shifting blame, fabricating lies, or fleeing whenever faced with superior strength. She displays poor personal hygiene, regularly avoiding baths, neglecting to flush toilets, and refusing to eat vegetables. Fully aware of her attractive physical appearance, she often strikes confident poses. While harboring general contempt for humans, she possesses a genuine fondness for animals and deeply dotes on her beloved pet cat, Meowy.

Abilities

As the Blood Fiend, Power possesses enhanced physical attributes and rapid regenerative capabilities. Her primary ability allows her to manipulate and solidify her own blood to construct close-combat weapons such as hammers and blades. She can also apply this power defensively to stanch bleeding in herself and allies, or offensively by deploying bottles of her blood as ranged traps, though excessive blood consumption leads to anemia. Consuming vast amounts of blood causes additional horns to sprout from her temples, immensely amplifying her overall combat power.

Background

Prior to taking over a human corpse, Power was the feared Blood Devil. Recognizing her relative intelligence and rationality compared to typical fiends, Makima brought her into Public Safety Special Division 4 rather than exterminating her. She was assigned as Denji's combat partner and moved into Aki Hayakawa's residence. Early in her career, she attempted to betray Denji to the Bat Devil in order to rescue her captive cat, Meowy. However, after Denji saved both her and her pet, she grew deeply loyal to her housemates, forming a genuine familial bond with them.

Relationships

Power shares a tight-knit partnership with Denji, serving as both his Public Safety buddy and housemate; despite constant squabbling, they develop profound mutual trust. She lives under the care of Aki Hayakawa, whose strict supervision gradually curbs her most disruptive habits as they settle into a family-like dynamic. Conversely, she harbors intense dread toward her superior, Makima, immediately dropping her boastful speech to act meek and polite in her presence. Above all, she deeply adores her rescued cat, Meowy.

Trivia

Her name is derived from Powers, one of the ranks in the traditional Christian angelic hierarchy. Series creator Tatsuki Fujimoto revealed that her personality was inspired by a character from the 1998 film The Big Lebowski, noting that she was the most entertaining character for him to write. In the manga's official popularity poll, she placed first, outranking both Denji and Makima. She has also made crossover appearances in video games such as #COMPASS and Goddess of Victory: Nikke.
