To the public, she was renowned as the famous American actress Sharon Vineyard, while also posing as her own fictional daughter, Chris Vineyard. Known as the Witch with a Thousand Faces, she is an expert in disguise and a deeply secretive figure within the series.
Appearance
Vermouth is a striking woman featuring long blonde hair accompanied by blue or green eyes. She is portrayed with an attractive, mature figure, often wearing jackets or long-sleeved outfits alongside red lipstick, nail polish, earrings, and other jewelry. Though estimated to be in her 40s or 50s or older, her physical appearance remains remarkably youthful, resembling a woman under thirty without showing signs of aging for decades.
Personality
Vermouth is an extreme secret-keeper who rarely reveals her true motives, frequently acting on her own and deceiving her own allies. While capable of ruthless and cold-hearted actions in service of her missions, she also possesses a personal sense of gratitude, going out of her way to protect those who once saved her life. Although cynical toward ideas of divine help or angels due to her difficult past, she maintains an intensely independent and elegant demeanour.
Abilities
Trained in disguise and voice mimicry by Toichi Kuroba, Vermouth can seamlessly impersonate virtually anyone regardless of age or gender. She possesses exceptional skills in infiltration, intelligence gathering, and sharp observation. In combat, she displays superb marksmanship with firearms and remarkable physical endurance, even when severely injured. Additionally, she holds advanced medical knowledge sufficient to effortlessly masquerade as a top-tier physician.
Background
Rising to fame as the legendary actress Sharon Vineyard, she simultaneously operated as the secret operative Vermouth. Because she stopped aging due to an unexplained phenomenon, she created the identity of her fictional daughter, Chris Vineyard, playing both roles before faking Sharon's death to live as Chris. During a past encounter in New York where she disguised herself as a serial killer, her life was saved by Shinichi Kudo and Ran Mouri, leaving a profound impact on her.
Relationships
She shares a unique, direct connection with the Boss (Renya Karasuma). While assisting Gin's team, she is resented by Chianti and Korn over Calvados's death, and maintains a complex mutual-leverage alliance with Bourbon (Rei Furuya). She is a long-time friend of Yukiko Kudo, having learned disguise together. She secretly protects Conan Edogawa (Shinichi Kudo) and Ran Mouri, referring to them as Cool Guy and Angel, whereas she harbours extreme hatred toward Ai Haibara (Shiho Miyano) and her parents.
Trivia
Her character concept was inspired by the villainous side of Fujiko Mine from Lupin III. Her famous recurring phrase, 'A secret makes a woman woman,' serves as the defining motto of her enigmatic persona. Furthermore, both her codename Vermouth and her public surname Vineyard derive from alcoholic beverage terminology.
