Belno Light

Overview

Belno Light is an original character appearing in Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, a spin-off manga of the Umamusume Pretty Derby franchise. Initially a student at the Kasamatsu Training Academy alongside protagonist Oguri Cap, she transitions from an active runner to a dedicated support staff member, joining the Central Tracen Academy to assist her friend's racing career.

Appearance

Belno Light is a petite horse girl with a short brown bob containing a prominent white streak. She features orange eyes and wears a pair of hair ornaments shaped like the letter B, alongside a single accessory on her right ear.

Personality

She possesses a gentle and somewhat shy demeanor, yet displays strong conviction when standing up against unfair treatment. While initially quiet, interacting with Oguri Cap turns her into a sharp straight-man figure who speaks her mind openly, even to trainers. She is emotional yet maintains a practical, sharp analytical mindset.

Abilities

Although her running performances are average, she possesses extensive knowledge regarding athletic shoes and horseshoes, capable of hand-forging gear given proper tools. She demonstrates solid physical endurance, multi-language skills, and the capacity to run trials herself to collect tactical racing data.

Background

After joining trainer Jou Kitahara's team at Kasamatsu Academy, she befriended Oguri Cap. Following a severe defeat in her debut race, she recognized her limitations as an athlete and secretly passed the staff trainee transfer exam for Central Tracen Academy. Moving to the central facilities alongside Oguri Cap, she became a vital support figure under trainer Ginjiro Mutsuhei.

Relationships

She shares a close friendship with Oguri Cap, acting as her primary supporter through equipment care and opponent research. Initially recruited into Jou Kitahara's squad, she later earns high trust from trainer Ginjiro Mutsuhei at the Central Academy, who relies heavily on her scouting abilities.

Trivia

Her design elements and name are heavily derived from the real-life racehorse Twin Bee, while her story arc also incorporates aspects of actual farrier Katsuya Miwa who followed Oguri Cap to central racing. She represents one of the earliest prominent characters in the franchise to actively choose a non-racing support career path.
