Overview
Norn Ace is an original horse girl character appearing in Umamusume: Cinderella Gray. Attending Kasamatsu Tracen Academy, she is a locally prominent runner in her home region. Initially assigned as Oguri Cap's dorm roommate, she treats the newcomer with open hostility, but after competing against her on the track, she transforms into a devoted friend and passionate lifelong supporter.
Appearance
Norn Ace has a gyaru-style appearance with brown eyes and medium-length brown hair styled into drills, featuring bangs falling between her eyes. Possessing horse ears and a tail, her bust size is recorded as 95 centimeters. Her attire consists of a school uniform with a white collared shirt, a brown cardigan, and a skirt. When wearing outerwear like a track jersey, she wears it unbuttoned low to expose her chest.
Personality
Initially arrogant and spiteful toward Oguri Cap, Norn Ace secretly harbored a cynical mindset, choosing to remain comfortable on the local level rather than aim for the top. Oguri Cap's unyielding determination initially irritated her, but after being overwhelmed by her spirit during a race, Norn Ace has a change of heart. Beneath her flashy demeanor, she is caring and supportive, taking on a mentor role for Oguri Cap's live performances and eventually becoming her most fiercely loyal fan.
Abilities
Norn Ace is recognized as a fast runner within the local circuit of Kasamatsu Tracen Academy. Beyond her athletic capabilities, she possesses notable talent in dancing due to her family running a dance school. Utilizing this background, she serves as a mentor to Oguri Cap, teaching her the fundamentals of dance routines and fan engagement for winning live performances.
Background
Enrolling in Kasamatsu Tracen Academy alongside her childhood friends Rudy Lemono and Minnie the Lady under trainer Hiyori Kawamura, Norn Ace initially mistreated her roommate Oguri Cap. During a race, she plotted a minor sabotage that failed due to Oguri Cap's overwhelming speed. Moved by Oguri Cap's post-race sincerity and live performance, Norn Ace apologized and formed a deep friendship. When Oguri Cap transferred to Central Tracen Academy after winning the Gold Junior race, Norn Ace tearfully cheered her off, continuing to follow her national career alongside trainer Jo Kitahara.
Relationships
Though initially hostile toward Oguri Cap, Norn Ace becomes her dance instructor and most devoted supporter after their reconciliation. She forms a tight group known as the Three Idiots with her childhood friends Rudy Lemono and Minnie the Lady. She also develops a friendship with Fujimasa March, helping select her casual outfits. Additionally, she maintains a close, banter-filled dynamic with trainer Jo Kitahara while cheering for Oguri Cap, while acting in a casual manner toward her own trainer, Hiyori Kawamura.
Trivia
Unlike most characters in the franchise, Norn Ace is an original creation without a real-life racehorse counterpart. She is widely considered by readers to be modeled after the Oguri Gyaru fan demographic of the era as well as Cinderella's stepsisters. She was featured alongside her two childhood friends on a special cover for Volume 7 of the manga. In the animated adaptation, a comedic scene where she angrily reacts to a commentator miscounting Oguri Cap's winning streak included a pixelated mosaic effect.
