Overview

Fujimasa March is an original character introduced in the manga Umamusume: Cinderella Gray. Enrolling at Kasamatsu Tracen Academy as a highly regarded scholarship student, she dedicates herself to intense training with the primary goal of winning the Tokai Derby. She serves as Oguri Cap's very first rival, engaging in fierce track battles that propel both of their early racing careers. Through their competitive bond, she plays a vital role in encouraging Oguri Cap's development as an elite racehorse.

Appearance

Fujimasa March is distinguished by her long teal-green hair, vivid red eyes, upturned eyes, and straight eyebrows, alongside horse ears and a tail. Following Oguri Cap's departure, she temporarily styled her hair into a short cut before letting it grow back out. Her attire includes long-sleeved track jerseys, white shirts, and a racing coat with a notably revealing design. She strongly dislikes wearing socks and prefers going barefoot indoors.

Personality

Fiercely self-disciplined and earnest, Fujimasa March spent her youth engaging in solitary, rigorous training, which initially left her stoic and socially unaccustomed. Despite her cool exterior, she possesses a passionate and caring nature. Her deep rivalry with Oguri Cap brings out intense pride, but also genuine vulnerability; she sheds tears over losses and reacts with raw emotion when her rival moves to Central. Additionally, she holds a surprisingly stubborn side, such as refusing to move as a child unless given carrots.

Abilities

As a top scholarship student at Kasamatsu Tracen Academy, Fujimasa March demonstrated exceptional running talent early on, making her a highly sought-after athlete among trainers. She showcased her speed and stamina by defeating Oguri Cap in their debut race. March contested prestigious regional competitions, securing a fourth-place finish in the Tokai Derby and running closely at the front in races like the Youth Crown. However, due to her hyper-fixation on athletic training, she is notably unsuited for Winning Live performances.

Background

After spending her early years training alone, Fujimasa March joined Kasamatsu Tracen Academy and partnered with trainer Kouichi Shibasaki. After defeating Oguri Cap in their debut match, the two formed a pact to compete together in the Tokai Derby. However, Oguri's sudden transfer to Central Tracen Academy disrupted their plan. Though frustrated, March shared a tearful farewell and a fist bump with Oguri, promising to remain on the track longer. March ran the Tokai Derby alone, finishing fourth, and continued her career at Kasamatsu while maintaining ties with her rival.

Relationships

Oguri Cap is Fujimasa March's ultimate rival and lasting friend; despite Oguri's move to Central, the two stay connected via phone calls and gifts. She places complete trust in her trainer, Kouichi Shibasaki, seeking his comfort and guidance after bitter defeats. Following Oguri's departure, March grows closer to Kasamatsu peers like Rudiremo, Norn Ace, and Mini Lady, enjoying casual conversations and sharing interests like fashion.

Trivia

Fujimasa March privately feels embarrassed by her racing outfit due to its high level of exposure. After Oguri Cap left for Central, March temporarily cut her long hair into a short bob in an attempt to look more fashionable. She is inspired by the real-life racehorse March Tosho, who notably handed Oguri Cap her only defeats during Oguri's regional racing era. While the real horse had a grey coat, artist Taiyo Kusumi designed Fujimasa March with distinct teal-green hair.
