Overview
A character appearing in Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, Toni Bianca is an Italian representative Umamusume known by the title of European Champion. Having won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe, she comes to Japan as the top foreign favorite for the Japan Cup, treating the race as the culmination of her career.
Appearance
She has long brown or orange hair styled into distinctive vertical drill curls, with her bangs partially covering one eye. She features green eyes, horse ears, and a tail, topped with a hat adorned with a feather. Her outfit consists of a green jacket worn over a white shirt with a white ascot tie, paired with white pants and white gloves.
Personality
On the surface, Toni Bianca projects absolute confidence and high pride, maintaining a dignified, aloof persona worthy of the title European Champion. However, this imposing attitude is largely a performance to live up to her reputation. In truth, she is a sensitive and caring girl who values her fans' support and suffers deeply when she cannot meet their expectations. Despite suffering from low blood pressure in the morning, she diligently styles her own hair daily. When pushed by fierce competitors, she willingly shows genuine respect, and off the track, she displays an innocent side by enjoying convenience store snacks.
Abilities
Boasting a stellar record of 15 wins in 26 starts, including six G1 titles, she combines flawless physical preparation with meticulous opponent research. In races, she cleverly positions herself in the mid-pack to avoid physical contact, preserve stamina, and monitor the entire field. Under extreme concentration, she can access the Zone (Ryōiki) to achieve burst acceleration. Even after fracturing her left leg immediately upon entering the Zone during the Japan Cup, her fierce willpower enabled her to push through the injury and secure a 5th-place finish. She is also noted for her exceptional talent as an instructor.
Background
Rising to prominence as Italy's premier runner alongside her trainer, who also serves as her butler, Toni Bianca achieved victory in the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe before traveling to Japan. Entering the Japan Cup as the ultimate foreign contender, she treated the event as the climax of her racing career. During the intense final stretch, she matched the unexpected power of Tamamo Cross and Obey Your Master, but tragically fractured her left leg. Pushing through the pain to cross the finish line in 5th place, she was subsequently hospitalized in Tokyo, where she finally allowed herself to put aside her heavy title and enjoy a peaceful recovery.
Relationships
Her personal trainer also functions as her butler. While she initially viewed Japanese competitors such as Oguri Cap and Tamamo Cross with distance, she grew to deeply respect their abilities during their race, while Obey Your Master's sudden surge directly spurred her to push beyond her limits. She shares a long-standing friendship with Moonlight Lunacy due to their families' backgrounds; Lunacy sees past her high-handed front, worries about her tendency to overwork herself, and introduced her to Japanese convenience store snacks. She also maintained complete confidence in her ability to defeat Symboli Rudolf at her peak.
Trivia
Her real-life namesake, Tony Bin, was a bargain auction purchase who won the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe before retiring to Japan following a 5th-place finish and fracture in the Japan Cup, where he became a legendary sire. The horse was named after an artist friend of its owner, a background subtly referenced in Umamusume Pretty Derby during Transcend's story event involving a perception-altering painting. Additionally, while Toni Bianca responds to journalists in English in the manga adaptation of Umamusume: Cinderella Gray, she speaks Japanese in the anime adaptation.
