Overview
Little Cocon is an original horse girl featured in the multimedia franchise Umamusume: Pretty Derby. Introduced as a game-exclusive character in the Aoharu Cup narrative arc, she serves as a formidable rival running for Team First under the direction of Acting Chairwoman Kashimoto Riko, competing alongside her teammate Bitter Glasse. Stoic and unyielding, she pursues athletic excellence with singular focus.
Appearance
She features a blonde short bob haircut marked with a single blue streak on her left side, paired with a blue and white ribbon accessory positioned near her right ear and emerald-green eyes with a slightly upturned glance. Her racing outfit comprises a loose, thigh-length navy blue hoodie-style dress detailed with a frilled hood trim and light blue lattice straps evoking a horse bridle. Underneath, she wears spats, complemented by a studded choker around her neck, mismatched socks, and thick-soled mid-calf boots.
Personality
Cool-headed and sharp-tongued, Little Cocon is a dedicated individual who refuses to compromise her standards. Her cynical phrasing often stems from a deep-seated reluctance to participate in group dynamics or superficial camaraderie, though she possesses a compassionate side underneath. Highly ambitious about gaining strength, she is unsparing in her training. She also maintains a keen interest in fashion, selectively sharing photos of her wardrobe acquisitions and self-made nail designs on social media.
Abilities
Boasting superior lung capacity and stamina, she excels at long-distance races employing a late-surging style. Her skill repertoire includes powerful options such as Ichijin no Kaze, Enko no Maestro, Stamina Eater, Mekuramashi, Happo Nirami, and Aoharu Nensho: Tai. In key final matches, her exceptionally balanced physical parameters and technical traits make her a challenging opponent.
Background
In her childhood, she was ostracized by peers after refusing to buy matching shoes with her team, preferring footwear tailored to her own feet. Forced conformity by instructors led her to abandon group settings and harbor resentment toward mandatory teamwork. Joining Team First due to Kashimoto Riko's hands-off personal stance, she initially scoffs at rivals who run for friendship, but eventually channels her desire to surpass preset operational limits specifically for her trainer's sake.
Relationships
She forms a trust-based bond with Kashimoto Riko, the trainer of Team First who recruited her under a strict protocol that avoids unnecessary personal interference. She runs alongside Bitter Glasse as a core pair of top performers for their squad. On the turf, she clashes directly with opposing runners such as Rice Shower and the protagonist's team.
Trivia
Following her debut as an original game character, a real-world racehorse was officially registered under the exact same name, Little Cocon. The real-life chestnut colt was sired by Big Arthur, sharing bloodline heritage with Sakura Bakushin O.
