Overview
Gold City is a character from the multimedia franchise Uma Musume Pretty Derby, based on the real-life racehorse of the same name. Attending Tracen Academy's High School division, she manages a dual career as a professional fashion model and an active racer. Widely praised as a once-in-a-century beauty, she despises being judged solely on her flawless appearance and strives to prove her true value through her performance on the track.
Appearance
She has long platinum blonde hair inspired by a flaxen chestnut coat, paired with blue-grey eyes. A blue bow and an ear cover ornament adorn her right ear. Her main Authentic/1928 racing outfit consists of a blue-and-white striped tube top, denim hot pants, and an open black jacket with red and blue ring decorations. She wears a golden chain choker, a single white glove on her left hand, and mismatched short boots—white on the right and black on the left. Her casual attire features a red high-neck top, a gray checked tailored jacket, a black slit skirt, and black ankle-strap high heels.
Personality
Though blunt and sometimes rough-spoken, Gold City is serious, hardworking, and attentive to those around her. She strongly rejects being treated like a pretty doll, determined to earn recognition through her running skills rather than her looks. Despite her prickly exterior, she treats her fans with genuine sincerity. She suffers from severe morning sluggishness due to low blood pressure, setting her alarm at two-minute intervals yet still struggling to wake up.
Abilities
She excels primarily in mile races and utilizes a late-charging betweener tactic. In the game, her signature skill Keep It Real grants a smooth acceleration boost when initiating a push from the middle of the pack during the latter half of a race. She also possesses recovery capabilities such as the Relax skill. Outside the turf, she boasts refined model walking techniques and exceptional physical flexibility.
Background
Gold City began working as a child fashion model, acting out the image expected of her by society. Realizing over time that competitive running was her true passion, she entered the racing world. She constantly strives to overcome the public's superficial perception of her by demonstrating her strength on the track.
Relationships
She shares a close, straightforward friendship with fellow gyaru Tosen Jordan and interacts with Daitaku Helios and Mejiro Palmer. She lives in the Ritto Dormitory with her roommate Bamboo Memory. She is also deeply admired by country girl Yukino Bijin and Mayano Top Gun.
Trivia
She follows personal rules such as avoiding salty foods the day before photo shoots and stocking up on mint gum or mint tea to help herself wake up. She also has a habit of thinking of friends who might suit specific clothes or cosmetics whenever she shops. Her severe difficulty with waking up early references her real-life counterpart's reputation for reluctant morning workouts, earning the real horse the nickname 'The 10 AM Man.'
