Overview

Regulus Corneas is a character in Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- who serves as the Sin Archbishop representing Greed within the Witch Cult. Having held his position for over a century, he is infamous as one of the most destructive figures in the organization, notably destroying the Fortress City of Garkla in the Vollachian Empire on his own. Appearing as an entirely ordinary young man, he hides a deeply self-centered and narcissistic nature behind a peaceful facade, wielding extraordinary powers to impose his distorted logic and desires upon everyone around him.

Appearance

He appears as an average young man with an unremarkable face, short white hair parted into M-shaped bangs between his eyes, and yellow eyes. His standard attire consists of a white priest-like robe accompanied by a single blue earring on his right ear. Other depicted garments include a blue collared jacket over a striped shirt, long sleeves, and white gloves.

Personality

Regulus presents himself as a selfless pacifist who values peace and tranquility, often lecturing others on morality and human rights. In reality, he is intensely narcissistic and hypocritical, using nonsensical excuses to justify his selfish actions. Any minor slight or disagreement is met with violent outbursts under the guise of defending his personal rights. He kidnaps attractive virgins to keep as wives to display his status, yet his aversion to genuine human connection prevents him from physically touching them. He treats his wives callously, ordering them to remain expressionless and killing them on a whim.

Abilities

He wields the Authority of Greed, making him exceptionally dangerous. His primary ability, Lion's Heart, stops the time of himself and anything he touches, granting absolute invulnerability against all physical and magical attacks. By stopping the time of objects like pebbles, sand, or even his own breath, he can throw or emit them to cut through space and cause unstoppable destruction. To bypass the fatal heart-stop time limit of his power, his secondary ability, Small King, allows him to merge and deposit his heart into one of his designated wives. Without his Authority, his physical combat skills and tactical judgment are entirely amateurish.

Background

Born over a hundred years ago into an ordinary, impoverished family, Regulus misinterpreted his family's genuine affection as pity and condescension. His stress from overwhelming paranoia caused his hair to turn white. Upon obtaining the Authority of Greed, he murdered his entire family, slaughtered his village, and eventually destroyed the nation ruling the area. Over the centuries, he continued to cause immense devastation, including an attack on an elf settlement a century prior and the ambush of a royal convoy.

Relationships

He targeted Emilia to forcefully make her his 79th wife. During combat, his overwhelming Authority enabled him to temporarily defeat Reinhard van Astrea. Natsuki Subaru thoroughly despised Regulus for his self-serving ideology and ultimately unraveled the secret behind his Authority. Regulus harbors no comradeship toward his fellow Sin Archbishops, holding deep contempt for figures such as Petelgeuse Romanee-Conti, Capella Emerada Lugnica, Ley Batenkaitos, and Sirius.

Trivia

His name is derived from Regulus, the alpha star of the constellation Leo. Over his lifetime, he kidnapped a total of 291 women to serve as his wives, but due to his erratic temper and sudden executions, only 53 of them remained alive.
