Overview
Sirius Romaneeconti is a character in Re:Zero - Starting Life in Another World who serves as the Sin Archbishop of Wrath within the Witch Cult. Enveloped in eerie bandages, she unilaterally claims to be the wife of Petelgeuse Romaneeconti. While she preaches an ideal of a compassionate world where everyone's hearts become unified through love, her true nature is that of a violent fanatic who forcibly imposes her distorted morality on others, causing horrific mass casualties.
Appearance
Sirius is a slender female whose head and body are messily wrapped in bandages, exposing only her purple left eye and her lips. She has disheveled silver hair, burn scars across her face, and seemingly pointed ear tips visible through the cloth. She wears a metal collar around her neck and an ill-fitting black Witch Cult coat. Long, distorted golden chains with hooked ends are wound around her arms and body, dragging along the ground.
Personality
Sirius presents herself with polite manners and soft-spoken speech, claiming to be a peaceful moderate who prioritizes dialogue. In truth, she is a deeply delusional fanatic who ignores the perspectives of others while imposing her twisted vision of emotional unity. She harbors an obsessive, stalker-like devotion toward Petelgeuse Romaneeconti, self-identifying as his wife and misinterpreting his indifferent behavior as deep affection. When her delusions are challenged or when Petelgeuse is involved, her gentle facade shatters, exposing explosive rage and ruthless aggression.
Abilities
Sirius wields two aspects of the Authority of Wrath granted by her Witch Factor. The first forces the emotional state of herself or a targeted individual onto surrounding people, amplifying their feelings until their minds break or trigger violent riots. The second shares sensory experiences and physical damage, ensuring that if one person suffers injury or death, everyone within range experiences the identical fate. Beyond her Authorities, she possesses exceptionally high physical combat capabilities among the Archbishops, using heavy chains for destructive strikes and manipulating intense black flames that can scorch even her own body.
Background
As the Sin Archbishop of Wrath, Sirius joined the Witch Cult after being saved by Petelgeuse Romaneeconti in the past, developing an intense devotion to him. Following Petelgeuse's defeat, she went to horrifying lengths, searching his body's remains and consuming them. She later resurfaced during the crisis in the Water Gate City of Priestella, utilizing her Authority to manipulate the emotions and physical fates of the populace, inducing widespread slaughter and chaos. She fought fiercely against Emilia and Priscilla Barielle before ultimately being captured.
Relationships
Sirius unilaterally adores Petelgeuse Romaneeconti, calling him her husband despite his cold treatment during his lifetime. Because of his obsession with the Witch of Envy Satella, Sirius harbors intense jealousy toward Satella and Emilia—who closely resembles Satella—addressing Emilia with vile insults. She also displays strong disgust toward the spirit Beatrice. Her fellow Sin Archbishop, Regulus Corneas, openly criticized her for illegally taking Petelgeuse's surname. In battle, she clashed with Priscilla Barielle and faced Liliana Masquerade, whose singing was able to mitigate the effects of Sirius's Authority.
Trivia
Her name is derived from Sirius, the alpha star of the constellation Canis Major, which carries the origin meaning of "scorched" or "scorching." The series author noted that in terms of pure physical combat strength without Authorities, Sirius is the strongest among all the Sin Archbishops. Among fans, popular theories draw connections between Sirius and Fortuna—Emilia's aunt and adoptive mother—pointing to shared traits such as silver hair, deep purple eyes, elf-like ears under her bandages, and identical height.
