Peakychu

Overview

Peakychu, commonly known in-game as Usu-chu, is a distinct female Pikachu who appears in Pokémon Pokopia. Found collapsed on a beach with amnesia at the start of the journey, she is characterized by her polite, refined, high-class manner of speaking.

Appearance

Unlike standard Pikachu, Peakychu has pale, almost white fur. Her ears droop downwards at asymmetrical angles on the left and right. As a female, the tip of her tail is rounded, though the tail itself is unusually thin and small. Her body weight is 5.0 kg.

Personality

She possesses a gentle and polite demeanor, speaking with refined elegance. Although her appearance suggests frailty, she is surprisingly resilient and confident in her physical endurance. She displays a self-sacrificing nature when helping others, yet can show anger when provoked. Around younger Pokémon who look up to her, she acts as a dependable older sister figure, concealing her limitations to stay strong for them.

Abilities

She has permanently lost the ability to generate electricity internally after exhausting her power to save others during a past catastrophe. However, her capacity to store and discharge electricity remains intact. When provided with an external power source, she can produce an intense illumination capable of lighting up an entire town.

Background

She was rescued after washing ashore with almost no memories of her past. Originally a standard Pikachu, her physical structure altered after she expended all her electrical force to protect her companions during a global crisis, leaving her with faded pigmentation and an inability to generate power. Following the main story's resolution, she begins to recover her memories and seeks out her former companions.

Relationships

She is deeply revered as an elder sister figure by younger Pokémon such as Pichu, Toxel, and Dedenne. She cares for them deeply and intentionally hides her lost power-generating ability to avoid worrying them. She also shares a connection with Chansey through the medical rest facilities she frequents.

Trivia

Her English name 'Peakychu' derives from a term meaning unhealthy or pale, while developers affectionately nicknamed her 'Hakkou Pikachu', playing on words for her delicate nature and her illumination power. Her design features—such as her drooping ears and monochrome color scheme—are often speculated to reference unused concept art and early game sprites. Upon her reveal, her popularity led to the immediate release of official merchandise, including plush toys and LED lamps.
