Appearance

Haurchefant is a male Elezen of Ishgardian descent, characterized by short silver hair, blue eyes, and distinctive pointed ears adorned with an earclip. He equips metallic knight armor complete with shoulder pauldrons, chainmail, and gloves. In combat, he wields a sword and carries a distinctive kite shield emblazoned with the House Fortemps coat of arms.

Personality

Haurchefant embodies the truest virtues of knighthood, defined by his deep compassion, unwavering loyalty, and readiness to protect his friends. Beneath his noble demeanor lies an eccentric trait: an intense admiration for the well-trained bodies of adventurers, regardless of their gender, race, or profession. He frequently voices joyful exclamations upon witnessing their physical strength. This obsession originates from his affection for his late mother, who was physically fragile. Though often viewed as an oddity by other nobles, he remains entirely unbothered and steadfast in his ideals.

Abilities

Haurchefant is a skilled combatant whose martial style is rooted in swordsmanship, allowing him to function seamlessly as either a front-line tank or a melee damage-dealer. On the battlefield, he fearlessly leads charges, cutting down foes with a sword and shield accompanied by spirited shouts and high laughter. He excels at defensive maneuvers, relying on his shield to intercept powerful attacks and safeguard his allies from lethal strikes.

Background

Born as Count Edmont's illegitimate child, Haurchefant was given the surname Greystone due to his origins, yet he was raised alongside his half-brothers. He earned the moniker "Silver Fuller" in his youth after rescuing his friend Francel from kidnappers. Later appointed commander of Camp Dragonhead, he aided the Warrior of Light in clearing Francel's name and recovering the airship Enterprise. When the Warrior of Light and Alphinaud were hunted following political turmoil in Ul'dah, Haurchefant sheltered them in the "Snow House" and convinced his father to grant them official sanctuary in Ishgard. During a rescue mission at The Vault, he gave his life to shield the protagonist from Ser Zephirin's lethal spear.

Relationships

Haurchefant maintains warm familial bonds with his father, Count Edmont de Fortemps, and his half-brothers, Artoirel and Emmanellain, despite his illegitimate status. He shares a close bond with Francel and Laniette of House Haillenarte, having played knight pretend with Laniette and saved Francel from abduction in their youth. He views the Warrior of Light with profound affection and trust, ultimately sacrificing his life for them. He also provided crucial emotional sanctuary to Alphinaud Leveilleur during his darkest hour.

Trivia

The surname "Greystone" assigned to illegitimate children signifies a "roadside pebble belonging to no one." Following his death, a memorial featuring his pierced shield was erected on a cliff overlooking Ishgard. His spirit continues to assist the Warrior of Light in subsequent battles, aiding in freeing Estinien from dragon eyes and appearing in the Aitiascope. Additionally, the high-difficulty duty "Dragonsong's Reprise" presents an alternate "what-if" retelling where players can alter history and save his life.
