Overview
Luke Sullivan is a recurring character in the Street Fighter fighting game franchise. Originally debuting as the final downloadable fighter for Street Fighter V, he serves as a primary protagonist in Street Fighter 6, acting as the first instructor for players in its World Tour mode. A former member of the United States Army Special Forces, Luke currently works as a contractor for a private military company in Metro City, teaching mixed martial arts to newcomers while seeking his own true strength.
Appearance
Luke has short blonde hair styled in an undercut, blue eyes, and a muscular physique, standing 180 cm tall in Street Fighter V and 185 cm in Street Fighter 6 at a weight of 90 kg. He wears dog tags around his neck, fingerless gloves, a hooded jacket, and casual shirts. He previously had star-shaped tattoos on his arms in Street Fighter V, which were later removed before the events of Street Fighter 6.
Personality
Luke has a casual, lighthearted, and hot-blooded personality, yet he remains deeply dedicated to the pursuit of martial arts strength. Extremely competitive by nature, he never willingly concedes a defeat. Outside of fighting, he is an enthusiastic gamer who enjoys first-person shooters, reading manga, collecting odd T-shirts, and traveling. He loves junk food, including pepperoni pizza, burritos, and snack food, but strongly dislikes horror games and mushrooms.
Abilities
Luke fights using a military-trained mixed martial arts style characterized by a well-rounded movepool. His arsenal includes "Sand Blast," a fast shockwave projectile; "Rising Uppercut," a reliable anti-air attack; "Flash Knuckle," a combo tool enhanced by timed button holds; and "Avenger," a rapid movement technique for launching surprise attacks. His Super Art "Vulcan Blast" delivers a fast projectile with strike invincibility. With powerful basic attacks like his crouching medium punch, he offers formidable offensive and defensive capabilities.
Background
During his childhood, Luke lost his father, Robert, in a shopping mall terrorist bombing. Witnessing his father sacrifice himself to guide others to safety left a powerful impression on Luke, inspiring him to join the U.S. Army Special Forces. However, feeling unfulfilled in the military, he sparred with Air Force Colonel Guile and chose to resign to discover his own path. He eventually joined Buckler Security in Metro City. After surviving a trap set by Johann Petrovic in Nayshall while escorting Ken Masters' son, Luke settled into his role as a martial arts mentor.
Relationships
Luke deeply admires his late father, Robert, striving to live up to the courage he displayed. Air Force Colonel Guile served as a mentor figure during his time in the military, encouraging Luke to follow his own path when he decided to leave. He was entrusted by Ken Masters to act as a bodyguard for his son, Mel. In the World Tour mode of Street Fighter 6, Luke acts as the primary teacher and master to the player character, guiding them through the fundamentals of fighting.
Trivia
Introduced in the final season of Street Fighter V, Luke quickly became a dominant pick in competitive tournaments due to his exceptionally high overall performance. In combat, he features a playful taunt that spoofs Ryu's Hadouken. Additionally, in World Tour mode, presenting him with in-game gift items named "Straberry Fight 6" or "Red Elevator 8" unlocks unique conversations reflecting his passion for gaming.
