He fights using a unique self-styled martial art that combines the traditions taught by his grandfather with the techniques learned from Ken. Appearance

Sean is a dark-skinned, muscular male with black hair styled in dreadlocks. He wears a yellow martial arts gi tied with a belt, along with fingerless gloves, and goes barefoot.

Personality

Sean has an upbeat, passionate, and athletic demeanor. He is naturally gifted at sports and highly enthusiastic, though his impatience often leads him to practice advanced moves before fully mastering the fundamentals. He harbors a distinct terror of his elder sister and strongly dislikes being grouped together with other unorthodox or clumsy fighters.

Abilities

Sean fights with an unrefined hybrid style blending Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu and techniques copied from Ken Masters. His moves include the two-handed Dragon Smash, the spinning Tornado kick, the Sean Tackle which takes down and punches opponents, and the Ryubikyaku roundhouse kick. His Super Arts comprise the high-speed projectile Hadou Burst, the multi-striking Shoryu Cannon, and the rushing combination Hyper Tornado. He also incorporates a basketball into his actions and bonus challenges.

Background

Born in Brazil, Sean learned Matsuda Jiu-Jitsu under his grandfather Kinjiro. Inspired by watching Ken Masters on television, he sought out the champion to become his pupil. Though Ken initially brushed off the persistent novice, Sean's earnest dedication eventually earned him proper guidance, leading him to travel and test his skills in martial arts tournaments.

Relationships

Sean deeply respects his master, Ken Masters. Through Ken, he considers Ryu an uncle-figure in martial arts and fought him as part of Ken's initial tests. His family includes his grandfather Kinjiro Matsuda, his father Yuichiro, his mother Brenda, his older brother Fabio, and his formidable older sister Laura Matsuda.

Trivia

Sean's gameplay balance shifted dramatically across game revisions, transitioning from an accessible newcomer character with powerful hitboxes to a high-risk fighter requiring advanced execution. His passion for street basketball is reflected in his gameplay, where the ball appears in taunts and specialized bonus stages.
