Overview

Oro is a character from the Street Fighter fighting game series. Over 140 years old, he is a hermit living deep in a cave within the Brazilian Amazon basin who is officially regarded as a Japanese-Brazilian. Despite possessing godlike martial prowess, he fights using an unpredictable and tricky combat style.

Appearance

Oro is a muscular elderly man with a bald head, beard, red eyes, and orange or yellow skin. He wears a ragged red robe and goes barefoot. In earlier iterations, he was depicted wearing no undergarments beneath his clothing, while in later appearances he wears a white fundoshi loincloth.

Personality

Despite his incredible age and power, Oro has a eccentric and surprisingly worldly personality. He frequently lets out a distinct laugh, appreciates older women, and boasts about his past popularity. Unlike those who seek mastery as a fixed point, he views martial arts as an endless, ever-expanding journey.

Abilities

Oro commands immortal Senjutsu techniques, placing him among the most powerful fighters in the world. To refrain from easily defeating opponents, he restrains one arm while fighting, or alternatively balances his pet turtle, Yamasen, on one hand. At full strength, he can unleash cataclysmic natural forces such as erupting magma or summoning lightning.

Background

Originating from Japan, Oro relocated to a cave in the Brazilian rainforest to hone his immortal techniques over decades. Recognizing his own immense strength, he travels the world seeking a worthy potential disciple capable of inheriting his fighting lineage.

Relationships

Oro takes a strong interest in Ryu, attempting to claim him as a disciple despite Ryu's hesitation. Conversely, Sean Matsuda actively seeks Oro's instruction. He acknowledges Akuma's inner strength while viewing him as mere youth, and maintains ties with Dhalsim as well as ancestors of the Kanzuki family.

Trivia

Oro shares several curious similarities with Capcom character Ingrid, including victory statements, technique naming style, and a identical signature laugh. Additionally, a recurring comedic trait involves Oro waking from sleep and forgetting which arm he was supposed to keep bound.
