Menat

Overview

Menat is a fortune teller hailing from Egypt who debuted in Street Fighter V. As the devoted apprentice of Rose, a renowned fortune teller based at the Soul House in Italy, she also channels Soul Power to foresee future events and travels the globe to deliver premonitions. Known by the nickname "Eyes Looking to the Future," she is an earnest and polite young woman who can occasionally be a bit clumsy.

Appearance

Menat is a beautiful young woman with dark skin, green eyes, and a short dark purple bob with blunt bangs. She wears a golden tiara on her head and a blue-and-gold usekh collar around her neck. Her main outfit features an Egyptian motif consisting of a short-sleeved dark purple leotard, a purple shawl draped around her waist, and toeless purple thigh-high socks. Her secondary attire is a revealing mummy-style costume wrapped in white bandages, paired with fingerless elbow-length gloves and toeless socks.

Personality

Menat is fundamentally polite, respectful, and sincere, though she possesses a slightly flustered and clumsy side. She enjoys collecting souvenirs from her travels around the world and keeping a diary. Conversely, she dislikes foul-mouthed individuals and thrilling amusement park rides. During combat, she displays a playful side by cheekily mimicking her master's technique callouts.

Abilities

Menat uses Soul Power to control a floating crystal ball. She relies on long-range attacks with her hurtbox-free orb, which she can project onto the screen, set in place, and recall to cancel recovery on sweeps or middle attacks and set up flexible combos. Her arsenal includes V-Triggers such as "Wisdom of Thoth" and "Prophecy of Thoth"—which surround her with six projectiles—the projectile-reflecting "Soul Reflect," and her master's move "Soul Spiral." Because her normal attacks become weaker while the crystal orb is detached, managing spacing requires high technical skill.

Background

Hailing from Egypt, Menat became the pupil of Rose, learning fortune-telling and the manipulation of Soul Power at her master's estate in Italy. Tasked with delivering various premonitions and warnings, she journeys across the globe, encountering fighters like Ed as she travels to fulfill her duties as a seer.

Relationships

Menat holds deep respect for her master, Rose, whose technique "Soul Throw" she playfully mimics during combat. Through her travels to convey prophecies, she also comes into contact with other fighters, including Ed.

Trivia

Her name is believed to derive from the "menat," an ancient Egyptian amulet and ritual necklace associated with the goddess Hathor. Due to her long-reaching zoner playstyle, players sometimes affectionately refer to her as a "cute Dhalsim."
